Execution has reached an equal playing field , however, transaction costs still vary .
If you are paying over a dollar, you need to do something about that immediately. Call these guys, they’ll negotiate.

That thought creeps in from time to time. At some point if I felt I made enough to step away for good, I’d want to do something that’s much more positive. Work in health/fitness…maybe work with kids.

Foot on the line is the worst shot in the game. Knowing that, its important to let your opponent know you are confident enough to take that shot. I step on the line intentionally. I don’t need three. Give me two points for the same shot.

How did you know when you were ready to step away from the day job and trade full time? I feel like I’m close, but don’t know how I’ll ‘know’ its sustainable.
I waited three years to do it, and waited til I had over a year of reserves saved up that were not invested. Debt free except my house and insurance, and was trading with enough size where I only had to generate 2-3% a month to live off of. That all helped take the edge off.
I’d say I was ready after two years, but waited the extra year to build up financially.

re: trading for a living. do you think having enough dividend cash flow to pay rent + a few other minor expenses in a long term acct (separate from trading acct) is a good way to minimize risk?
Anything you can do to supplement on the income side is a great idea. Only because it helps to eliminate some of the pressure. Aside from getting finances in order, you also need to get stress and emotions in check.

JP, that’s a good question! It combines technical trading skill, luck and human nature. I’d guess a gap move would be it, because it’s hard to imagine holding on to a 10 bagger for more, unless it already happened.
