A good short bear flag setup (like PEIX) has been money on the short side for a while. That same setup is now killing it to the upside (MW, CTRP). The bear flag setup trend could be over soon.

Hey Jeff – I took a sizable position in TA over the past week or so on fundamental reasons (ie turnaround + play on low oil and competitor buyouts at much higher valuations) but am curious to get your take on the technicals.
I know you like those big volume gaps on the volume profile which I would assume fits the bill with this one but it’s not apples to apples because they have 4x as many shares as they did in 2007 (granted the biz is 2x the size). how do you account for dilution on a volume profile?
The profile would give unrealistic expectations obviously, but the idea of leaving this range and the likelihood it trends is good.
What kind of price target from a chart perspective would you put on it? Fundamentally I can make a case for $35 but technically i’m not really sure.

I don’t really have a time frame in mind. Just need fundamentals to stay in place and I’ll continue holding. From a chart perspective TA kind of reminds me of NLS LNG and DAL just as they were breaking above long term resistance. Do you agree?

Risk stocks finally look ready in my opinion. I like Z here. Regulatory risks are there but that’s the one I think that has the best long term fundamentals out of those not named AMZN GOOGL AAPL
