I purchased a bunch of August 85 calls in this name this morning.
As for yesterday, I booked gains in GMCR and GOOG, and a small loss in NBG.
I also took on a bunch of CLF…August and today’s expiry.
Watching SCTY and XONE today.

Getting my lungs torn out today with the one millionth lesson learned experience in the option market . I’ve been at this longer than most of you have been alive and still still make errors strictly based on emotion . It would be a great service to all if we had a weekly “lesson learned”

Unlike the fly and others I readily admit mistakes and go to great lengths to avoid past posting and outrageous claims after the fact . Bullshit artist like the fly eventually disappear ; those that recognize and offer their errors to others are real stayers and pros .

You could buy a small island with the plays I missed out on the last few weeks alone. It started with FRO and two entries missed in OCZ.
Missing entries in MELI options and cutting BIDU early were the most painful though. There are plenty others but I see no advantage in naming and dwelling in them.
That being said, I’m actually quite thrilled that
1)my awareness is such that I’m able to put many names up at the top of my radar.
2)My discipline although wasn’t so spot on that I was flush with cash to easily capitalize off these opportunities without getting a tad overly aggressive, was still good enough for me to not get loaded to the gills long just because I observe a good setup.
Being able to take that perspective whether it is a mistake of omission or trying to do too much I think is important to have. I think it is good to focus on some good things that you did and learn to not be too “results oriented”.

A big help if emotions get in the way and you sell early for example, that worked for me is to look at your win rate and determine “at what point do I have to let this winner run to have a break even system”, Or better yet, to have one one pace for my goals. Works better for stock when time decay doesn’t get in the way though. For example if you have 50% win rate and average loss is 10% selling at a 10% gain is completely unacceptable, because not only does a 10% loss require an 11% gain to break even, but it also would require you to have a position size of zero% at break even since you have no edge PLUS cost of fees. In order for you to justify your position size, you probably need to at least let your winner run to 15-20% in this case… Plus you should have some kind of premium for your time, and in order to outperform the SPY index fund. It can be looked at the same way if you are thinking about letting your loss run beyond 10%.
Of course there are always the “rule breakers” and exceptions, but you gotta make sure you don’t make it a habit.
Running some basic numbers like that before making a decision can help take the emotion out of it.

SCTY & FSLR need to get with it and break out.
Hard to watch BIDU go to $120 without me.
Then it was hard to watch BIDU go to $130 without me.
Now it is hard to see $BIDU headed to $140 without me.

FSLR below 20 & 50 day as well as trend line. Have been patient w/ my calls so far, but watching really close into Monday.

Agreed about this year. Just thought I’d share as I’m guessing others are in FSLR as well – maybe get some feedback. I think we find out if it’s relevant early next week, but it’s not cause for me to take action now.
Yeah, moving averages become noise when stocks move sideways. I don’t think they will impact the fate of FSLR.
