Trading during the dog days of summer blows. Looking out my window, there are blue skies, warm temperatures, and fun things to do. Looking around my office there are warm glowing monitors, tons of garbage on the floor, markets that are flat, feces on the wall, and several positions that are going nowhere.
While trading during this part of the summer is not wildly productive, I can’t say blogging is as fun either. When the markets are dead, it leaves very few opportunities to discover. Therefore, I want to use the time, while there are a few of you still here reading, to interact with you and try to increase my scope of ideas through the use of “group think.”
Therefore, “What’s you favorite long here?”

RIG at an interesting level, especially if crude doesn’t pull back much. Just under the 50 and 200 right now, but if it pushes through it could run a bit me thinks.

To liven up the trading doldrums of summer, how about some small positions and rolling the dice on NOK, GLD, PBR, RIG, SDRL and watching the world go by?
If August apathy won’t correct the markets, maybe someone will start to riot and burn stuff again.
That’s my typical summer strategy. This time around, the template was a lot different. Thinking about switching back to this approach.
