Yeah because Social security is sustainable without cutting it back now. Right.
What’s the point of trying to provide a news stream if you’re just going to be a partisan demagogue?
You’ve lost all credibility.
Hes being fair and balanced just like your favorite network.
look, i know i’m a broken record and in a vast minority, but social security is sustainable right now. I would encourage all to read a bit of Modern Monetary Theory, and relize that they don’t advocate unlimited deficits, but rather they actually have a plan for managing deficits for the benefit of the economy and citizens and for price stability…
Lol, don’t insult our intelligence. Of course its “sustainable” now, meaning that there are enough funds to support it for a while. But about 30 years from now it will no longer be sustainable unless changes are made to the system! When I said it’s unsustainable, I meant over the long term, genius. And a few decades is not even that long!
An, it is at no risk of becoming “unsustainable”, …. not insulting any intelligences …
Why don’t we all go check our facts about social security before making comments about it. I’ll give you some hints:
1. Greenspan Commission
2. Percent of wages applicable to SS tax
3. Federal tax changes: relationships of income, capital gains, and dividend taxes.
4. Change in shape of wage distribution.
I’ll give you another hint, a small change needs to be made to the program to return it to permanent solvency based on the recommendations of one of the hints above.
Good day sirs.
Yes, it has to become a welfare program instead of an insurance program to maintain itself.
Who needs an expensive welfare program? Dismantle it, and let people build their own wealth outside the grasping hands of the USG.
As for Bachmann winning a paid for straw poll –it’s a ridiculous exercise, and not a real primary (or even the Iowa Caucus, which I think a lot of people are confusing these results with).
It’s just bullshit paid for marketing and paying to have your backers vote. Hell, Ron Paul almost beat her! I think she won by 157 votes or something.
