Let’s Be Clear About One Thing

It wasn’t the guns. It wasn’t the mother or the father. It wasn’t the video games. And it wasn’t the drugs.

The disgusting creature who murdered all of those babies was evil. I do not mean the demonic type. Simply stated, some people are born a certain way and others are moulded into personality traits. The old nature versus nurture debate is fairly straight forward here.

Mr. Lanza had a privileged life; but he was fucking nuts. In the past, he wouldn’t be allowed to circulate amongst normal people. They’d lock him up and take his brains out to make him normal again, or sedated.

Stop trying to find a reason as to why this happened and accept the fact that some people aren’t here to contribute to mankind. Some people are destroyers of life, hope, spirit, body, money etc. Whenever you identify these people, cast them out from your lives, even if they’re family or a significant other.

The government is going to pass a bunch of laws to give the impression that they are “fixing the problem.” But the only way this gets fixed, on a macro level, is by you, the parent of a child, taking the time to communicate with them. Make sure they have their p’s and q’s in order and keep sharp and explosive objects out of the house if your kids are fucking lunatics.

Well stated sir. Many need to stop searching for answers outwards, but by looking within. What can we do for the people we know and love to make the world better. Do more “giving” than “taking” in this world.

but yo dawg. just one thing. it does not matter IF it was the guns or not. if there were not guns to shoot, this boy would not have shot people.
it is that easy. really. he might have had knives, or some other shit. yes. but even the hardest motherfucker out there has to agree that without some nice ass guns this dude would have gone postal BUT the damage would be very limited.

But when you make guns illegal, criminals still get access to them. That leaves everyone disarmed EXCEPT for the dangerous criminals. Such is this nut.

RusskieDoc…..More laws and denying access to firearms would make no difference.

Read closely and I’ll attempt to explain in a way you may be able to comprehend. The kid was denied when he tried to purchase a firearm himself a little while before he did what he did. So…he shot his own mother in the face and took her guns. Correct me if I am wrong but I do believe that shooting/killing his mother is a violation of law. It seems that stealing her weapons is also against the law. Forcefully breaking into the school broke another law or two and then shooting all those people was a pretty clear cut infraction also.
It would appear that the perpetrator really didn’t care about what the law was. Making more laws that attempt to keep any means of violence and destruction out of the hands of psychotic individuals is fruitless from a realistic, pragmatic standpoint.

The guns are not the problem. As a case and point, please recall the fertilizer bomb used in Oklahoma. In addition, during the Columbine massacre the weapon that could have done the most damage failed to operate as intended leaving Harris and Klebold holding only their firearms. They had planned far greater carnage through the use of LP gas tanks (for grills) rigged as bombs. Authorities have stated that the body count from the firearms would have been insignificant compared to the death toll if those would have worked.
Your supposed logic of “no guns anywhere ” is ludicrous at best and makes thinking human beings like the rest of us question your ability to comprehend reality.

I can debate you about guns; but that’s not the point of this post.

The person is to blame first. People are trying to understand why he did it. There is no motive when it comes to a crime so depraved, so unbelievable, that the whole country is depressed by it.

He was an evil person. Period.

I think it’s reasonable to think he may not have. I’m not so naive to think that illegal guns aren’t available, but acquiring a black market firearm is difficult enough, for people lacking the connections or wherewithal to easily do so, to act as a potential deterrent. To me, that’s the question. No deterrent will be 100% effective, but is it sufficiently effective to justify the effort to enact it. In this case, the answer is probably yes.

Taking away the civil rights of such a potential monster has become a real problem. When it’s all said and done guns will still be legal. There may be some restrictions around the edges, but there will be plenty of weapons available for the determined. Reference dude in Norway on that Island. He killed a hundred or more.

Gun ownership is, in my view, an important freedom. Identifying and dealing with these potential monsters should be a high priority item.

There is, I think, a potential problem with aimless young males who spend hours on computer games, have no employment or studies, and smoke weed in isolation. Particularly with identified mental issues and affluent protective parents. The Gabby Giffords shooter was such a dude. So all those factors may contribute or simply be identifiers.

It was certainly the sick fucks “fault”. But I gotta tell you, the mother made herself responsible for him. For all we know the Father and brother left to get away from the sick fuck and his enabler.

By having guns in the house and knowing she spawned a sick fuck, she is responsible too. If she were alive today she would get the blame.

Are toddlers evil? No, of course not. But if you give them a gun or a knife, some of them will shoot or cut themselves or others. Because they don’t understand WTF they are doing. The same with severely mentally ill people.

I certainly agree with you that parents should keep sharp and explosive objects out of the house if their kids are unstable. But if you do this & if you get or provide proper supervision for these kids, sometimes they can contribute a lot of good to the world.

I guess Adam’s mother was bs’ing herself, trying to pretend that her kid was more stable than he really was, trying to pretend she could adequately take care of him by herself. Big mistake. Like treating a toddler like an adult.

The main problem is our mental institutions. Crazy people are not locked up unless they commit a crime. Do you know how many schitzo homeless people yell at me each day on the street? We need to get these crazy sociopaths out of society and back into the institutions again.

I bet the parents of these kids were scared to death of their own kids and didn’t know what to do with them. They’d take them to a hospital for evaluation and 24 hours later they would be released, because no crime was committed.

We need to be proactive with the mentally disturbed in our society, not reactive. It would have saved a lot of lives.

It costs money but we need to spend a lot more in this country on mental health, there are a lot of crazy fuckers out there walking around that need serious treatment.

On the other hand, I fail to see the need for people to own assault rifles and similar type weaponry, it makes it too easy for every nutjob to wipe out large numbers of people easily. Pretty soon there will need to be metal detectors and armed guards in every public plae to prevent this crazy shit!

I own one. An H & K .45 USP. It has a trigger lock, in a case that is locked in a cabinet that is locked. I have 3 kids, so I’m a bit paranoid. Maybe the mother of that 20 year pychopath should have been a little more paranoid of her son than of society collapsing, which is, supposed, why she owned the guns in the first place. I too was in the U.S. Army and definitely know how to use my weapon.

According to Tim McVeigh you need 6 guns are essential:
a semiautomatic, magazine-fed rifle (for defending against large mobs); a bolt-action hunting/sniper rifle (for killing large game or defending against an entrenched marauder); a shotgun (for fowl hunting); a .22 caliber rifle (to hone shooting skills and bag small game); and a pistol (for close-in self-defense)

By the way many parents have problems with their kids because some mental or other health problems, which has nothing to do with them.

I remember watching a show of Jeffry Daumer (Sp?) Serial killer who was a cannibal… his parents appear pretty normal, at least on TV.

The best thing for kids is an activity such as sports, debate, music, etc.
But, it has to be done early and requires a major commitment on the part of the parent(s) especially with time.
We could have retired 5 years ago but we sacrificed.
I was a debate judge going all over with my daughter and my son and I spent entire weekends and summers together at his tournaments.
I realize it is difficult with single parents but whatever free time the parent has needs to be spent with the kid doing things (even going on bike rides, etc.)
I have actually had adults ask me why we did all of this when we could be retired traveling, etc
Doing all of this with our kids was one of the best times of our life.
            .

But because evil doesn’t have a cure, we use pseudo science to create a rationale for evil behavior and rush to blame some authority or responsible party. That way we can delude ourselves into believing that there is some way we can prevent this from ever happening again.

Chemicals to create dynamite and other explosives can be purchased anonymously on ebay right now. If the kid couldn’t access guns, there are several other options.

Also, drunk drivers kill innocent people every day, perhaps we should ban alcohol? Since if no alcohol existed, they wouldn’t have been driving drunk.

If you think drunk driving is the equivalent of using a high powered high rifle to purposely kill little kids then I feel sorry for you. I can buy dynamite on Ebay? Maybe the Pakistan Ebay.

Some people think that Bill Gates has Asperger Syndrome. I don’t know if he does or not. The point is, someone could have it, and function as well as Bill Gates does.

What if Bill Gates had not been raised the way he was? What if instead he was raised with a frightened survivalist single parent, with a house full of guns & maybe nobody else around, not even going to school at some point? And what if he was allowed by his one parent in the home to play violent video games & to become addicted to them? And what if that parent tried to pressure him into ways of being that were not possible for him because of his limitations? Would we be calling him “evil” now?

Adam was a smart kid. If he had been in a highly structured mental health treatment program– or even some kind of school or college program with help from people who understood his strengths & limitations, would he have contributed useful computer software to the world? Mayb even cured cancer, for all we know?

You can’t overwhelm a mentally ill person with an envonment that he is not able to function in & let him surround himself with violent video games. He will explode. But, given a more fitting environment, his story might have been very very different.

Implement further restriction on guns and get cracking on the decline of morals in today’s society with a full ban on all television programming. Just cut the cord completely and force people to spend more time conversing with family and friends. Crazy talk i know but wouldn’t it be nice…

Interesting read here from a relatively unbiased and objective source. Bottom line is that there is not, nor will there ever be a means or way to eliminate the possibility of this happening.

This problem was eliminated up until 1984. Dare we talk about how the US dealt with this in the past? Of course not, because it would deprive so many of their “civil rights”.

If everyone smoked marijuana there would be no crime. Make it free and legal.

Humanity today is not more violent than it was 20 50 100 or 1000 years ago.

Guns, video games, movies and TV do not cause this sort of evil act.

As for the mentally ill, up until around 30 years ago, these people would have been institutionalized or had their brain scrambled with a lobotomy.

Not saying that is a good solution, but that is how things were done to many people that could not fit in with a civil society.

Unfortunately; evil and awful shit happens in life, always has and always will. No easy solution.

The way things stand now, lots of criminals are able to buy their way out of jail (pay a huge fine etc.) for serious crimes that they commit…and we all see this on the TeeVee, or read about it in the newspapers.

We watch the criminal sentenced to maybe 20 years in prison for harming someone, or practically walk away from an embezzlement/serious theft type of crime.

From a young age, people need to understand that crime does not pay. For any SERIOUS crime….we need to go back to PUBLIC EXECUTIONS in the town square.

Public executions are not going to prevent all serious crimes; but IMO, this is ONE STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!

Frog says: “Crime does pay if you work for HSBC. See the url in my response to Dave up above here.”

Clock says: Yes, and that is the problem. Too many times, crime does pay. (that is one example that you linked) I guess I didn’t make it clear enough when I said…“From a young age, people need to understand that crime does not pay.”

For any SERIOUS crime….we need to go back to PUBLIC EXECUTIONS for the criminals Hang ’em by a rope and watch ’em writhe and gurgle. Put ’em in an electric chair on a podium in the middle of your town square. That would show people that crime does not pay. That would show them what they have to look forward to.

      Nobody wants to hear that.
especially the MSM. We already know about Chicago and DC where guns are banned, yet there is gun related murder epidemic.

It is bodycount like CT and kids that makes the news.

This many people get killed/murdered in Chicago in a month. Nobody cares cares because most are drug dealers and are black.

Either arm yourself, buy a bullet-proof vest, or play the odds.
