The Infamous Faber-Cramer Morgan Stanley Pump

I am probably wrong and this likely was done in a very innocent way. But the Faber-Cramer Morgan pump this morning almost seemed scripted. Jim was negative on the banks and said if he was at his hedge fund, he’d be a seller of calls in Morgan, if he owned them. A short while later, Faber came back on screen and quizzed Cramer about his negative posture on the banks, cornering Jim to say something positive on Morgan.

This is what happened next.

Just look who buys most of the ads on CNBC.. they have no choice to be long-biased. Unfortunately it’s probably as simple as that.

Ok, Jim Cramer and David Faber did XYZ. So? Why is it a problem for you? There are so many stupid issues going on everyday on CNBC. This is the 1st time ever I have seen such a post from you.

I hope you didn’t go massive long!

CNBC folks– paid to act bullish all the time– well, except at market bottoms when they let bearish analysts appear. Nice work if you can get it. You just put on a bull costume and collect your pay.

That bulkowski “bullish w” formation is still intact in the daily chart of the Dow. But, it is now literally a few ES points from dying.
    http://chart.ly/8e7q3da

But there are 2 developments that may keep it alive here.

#1 ES volume profile charts seem to say a rise back to 1300 resistance is possible.

    http://www.charthub.com/images/2011/09/30/Volume_Profile__Daily

#2 Bullish descending wedges are appearing in these sector etfs: DEM FXI EWZ FXE XLB JJC SMH RSX XLE MOO DBA KOL TAN SLX REMX

I’m 2 months early on what I think will be a 15 month uptrend in the market.

Still, that’s no reason for you to blaspheme Bulkowski

The guy made enough money on chart patterns to retire, and vanish forever . He’s like the keiser souze of tech analysis.

You’re 2 months EARLY and yet the “bullish w” formation is just a mere few points from dying on the ES? I appreciate your insights and trying to help as I certainly am no Bulkowski. Where is Tea with his wave analysis? Let’s all do The Wave!

Cramer is hilarious. Soon he will be doing his contrite “I messed up” spiel to maintain the viewership of the few morons that think he has any credibility.

If banks blow up in Europe, some banks will blow up in the U.S. – Period.

What do we know? We know that Greece is defaulting. We also know that some European banks are going to go under unless the EU can commit a lot more than it already has, and it looks like it won’t. It’s going to start to look a lot like 2008 when this all starts to hit the fan. It hasn’t yet.

BTW, all this talk about “the end of the world” is stupid. 900 on the S&P is not the end of the world. The 30s depression was not the end of the world. The simple fact is that the type of financial practices we’ve seen the last decade lead to massive delationary periods, i.e. depressions. Nobody wants this, but it is what it is.

Bernanke isn’t done playing the white knight, though. At some point he’s going to throw the kitchen sink at this whole situation. The clam seemed sure he could fix our problems after the fact by inflating the money supply. Can he? Probably not, judging by the results of the last year, but I would be shocked if he were done trying.

He tried to train his hamsters to row like that guy in the (Geico?) commercial, so he could power his computer.

But the one he trained to say “Row” muttered that he was an “old tosser,” and he killed the whole lot in an apoplectic rage.

His computer is therefore now without power.

Do people believe European debt issues will resolve next week? Various debt issues will go on for years to come. Does this mean stocks should drop 5% every day until then?
Some cos have investment exposure. Other cos are only affected by economic matters relating to debt issues…no exposure. Two different scenarios. You get the point.

200 week moving average broken to the downside on $RUT. Areas of support are right around where we are now (600ish) which is the post-Flash Crash/pre-QE2 lows from last summer (what was it Scott was saying about no bottom in place until we’ve given back all of QE2?) and then around 550.

Looking to get long some TNA Calls in the next few days once the $RUT Stochastics are in the single digits and the $RUT MACD stops going down.

His body language was pretty telling. Diapers are in aisle three, Jimmy.

Seems to me he was backpedaling to keep people from panicking. I doubt he’s getting paid to do that.

Put yourself in his shoes – his voice has a bit of influence and he doesn’t want to be a catalyst to the meltdown. Yet, he needs to stay credible at the same time.
