OBAMA TO THE RESCUE

Should you find yourself looking at down stocks today, do not fear anything. Obama the Zero is on his way to create more than 0 jobs, vis a vis his scripted speech tonight. The proposal of an infrastructure bank might scare Senator Gint. However,  I embrace an infrastructure bank as if it was my own. Since there are no easy fixes, I am always interested in cool/innovative bandaid solutions. Why? Because I see the world as my science experiment. I don’t give a fuck about the macro, as I am only interested in my micro.

Welcome to my micro.

Stocks will reverse and trade higher today.

    Fly / Jeremy,

For some reason I can’t get any of the news links to pull up. Same thing happens on Wood’s blog.

    Mr. Fly,

how do I get a message to Woodshedder? When I click on his headline, all I get is a big black empty screen. What’s up with that.

    regards,

Vincenzo dropped an extra large vat on Wood’s server. At the moment, I am having him clean it up with Bounty paper towels. Once he is done, Wood’s blog will be back.

It’s all about The Clam today, my friends. Plus, Obama news has already been discounted as pointless, therefore his speech offers only upside.

Expect The Clam to start outlining some serious interventionist actions today…

You like to drive down potholed roads and over collapsing bridges, with sewage flowing in the rivers under them, while dangling power lines threaten to electrocute you,
and having a drink of water poisons you?

Why do you want America to be a shitty third world country?

Well, Double Jackass, how about spending a TRILLION on those things, school buildings, slum housing teardown and replacement,
and a total upgrade of our sewage and water treatment systems, and huge pipelines to
deliver Mississippi River floodwaters to reservoirs in the West, where drought is endemic? At 2 percent interest on BORROWED money, who gives a fuck what the Debt is?

Oh – I know. You would rather give that Trillion to the fucked-up banks and hedge funds, to cover their derivative losses qand
let them collect MORE fat bonuses..

I don’t want to “give” any money to anyone.

There was a gigantic stimulus bill signed about two years ago. Where is that money?

There was a gigantass HIGHWAY bill signed about five years ago… as far as I know, there’s still dough coming from THAT.

            Where’s that money?

There’s a gigantass Federal GAS TAX that pays for highways and bridges — supposedly. Where’s THAT money?

Here’s the problem, with “directed dollars” coming from the gobmint… they don’t go to the right places ever.

All we are doing by overspeding on certain sectors the government chooses to fund is creating richer highway engineers who have more work than they know what to do with … and more work than they can STAFF in the short term.

That means you don’t get increased employment in the areas that you want, Rigged.

Guys who build houses are not the same as guys who build bridges. And the latter is in very very short supply right now.

I agree w. you on the TBTF bank problem, but let’s not compund errors here with more government waste.

Bush gave HIS $800 billion to the fuckin bankers and brokers and hedge funds to cover their fuckups and give themselves bonuses.

Obachmann gave HIS fuckin $800 billion to the brokers and hedge funds and corrupt states; and the deadbeats on unemployment and the Welfare Queens. Next to NOTHING went for infrastructure, except a few roads.

And if you look back, I proposed HOUSING
            as an area for spending.

Has there been anything close to an objective analysis of what would have happened if we’d let the TBTF banks F?

I agree that some of the biggest problems we’re dealing with right now are the unintended consequences of government actions. So is there any real study on this, at least regarding the banks, or is it all just typical bipolar party talking points shit?

And as much as I’d like to fix our infrastructure, first we have to fix the way we dole government money out. ‘Cause the current system almost guaruntees that it will be largely pissed away.

“Double Jackass” is an instant classic, btw.

I don’t know about whatever flyover zone you live in, but I can tell you from my recent 1100 mile drive that the highway stimulus funds have resulted in many miles of nice, fresh pavement in CA and AZ where there used to be patches upon patches and cracks upon cracks. Some of I-40 in particular had become downright painful to drive. Thumbs up to restoring the highways!

However, inside the PPT is completely different. Grace and decorum are musts. As I posted months ago, the inner sanctum of the PPT is like the NY Philharmonic. This here IBC is the bleacher section at Wrigley Field.

Indued. While an infrastructure bank will likely do little to create jobs in the near future, it will help solve a massive problem this country has in paying for its infrastructure. Our current model for funding transportation projects in particular is broken. Our shit is falling apart. We dont have the money to keep up with it. Most of the lifespans of our current roads and bridges is approximately 50 years. We are currently living on borrowed time and without a change in the way we fund our system, we will have big problems in about a decade.

Another bureaucracy to have massive staff meetings and talk about every little detail in depth. The private sector can cut through the crap and get something done. The government sector has to study all the crap in depth via have massive committee meetings with bagels, fruit, coffee and tea. These carry on for 2-3 years in most cases, meeting bi-monthly if they are in a rush. And they have a staff.

Now now, we can’t be wasting money on infrastructure. Not while there are plenty of brown people in the world that have not been exposed to the wonders and joys of precision guided munitions.

No, not that CALPERS, heh. Ease down, Ottnot and other California public employees.

(Honestly, I just wanted to write “PerkinElmer” so I could say it in my head a couple-three times, like a high-Asperger’s robot).

I already sent a note privately to Vincenzo/Jeremy, but I will publicly state it here… that “Obama to the Rescue” cover pic of Obama writing down PPT stuff on the chalkboard is one of his most brilliant photoshops yet.

If he could’ve only have grafted a “loosie” dangling from his lips, it would be pure perfection.

Please explain to me this, Obama intends to create infrastructure jobs heading into the winter…..maybe I’m living in my “igloo bubble” up here, but we tend to do our construction during the summer. The months that promote the longevity of the material you’re spending money on.

On his image: “Who is Barack Obama? Contrary to the rumors you have heard, I was not born in a manger. I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father Jor-El to save the Planet Earth. Many of you know that I got my name, Barack, from my father. What you may not know is Barack is actually Swahili for ‘That One.’ And I got my middle name from somebody who obviously didn’t think I’d ever run for president. If I had to name my greatest strength, I guess it would be my humility. Greatest weakness, it’s possible that I’m a little too awesome.” –at the Al Smith Dinner
