Come Thursday all of Europe is expected to pay for their gas with Rubles, but they don’t want to. I don’t see why not. Russia has gas that they need to heat homes and power their electricity plants. I understand they want Russia to just die and they want to be able to steal their dollars and gold without retribution— but if they really want to do that and get away with it they’ll need to do several things. The first thing they’ll need to do is defeat the Russian army in Moscow and the second thing they’ll need to do is seize Russian oil and gas supplies by force. Anything short of that dictates they must adhere to Russian demands, or simply not buy Russian gas.
Germany is panicking over this and asking its citizens to stop using so much gas. Germany also banned any support of the Russian war in Ukraine and the letter Z. I’m not making this up.

The Ruble is soaring against the dollar on a daily basis, in what might turn out to be the biggest FX short squeeze in history.
The Russian MOEX is +4.3% today, while the DAX is down 1.66%.
