We grew up watching Hitler the villain movies, glorifying the allied victories of war and as boys growing up pretended to do combat, in a similar vein. We’d play countless video games of war, told America was the good guys, and now we’re adults and seeing what could potentially be the start of another industrial sized war and creating memes to make light of it — doing polls to gin up war promotion and casting out the new Hitler, Putin, so far out that the only reasonable expectation here is for total war.

I can’t wait to see the news stories about disproportionate body counts amongst people of color and the new neoliberal movement in America demanding more white people be placed on the front lines to get those numbers up.

The Russians must have thought this out. Putin seems a fairly logical actor with a lot more grey matter than our leadership. So what will happen if we cut them off from swift …what has Xi promised in support of what they’re doing? The dollar was already in longer-term trouble …does this accelerate its demise or delay it?
Putin is aware of our financial vulnerabilities and of his own. He has taken steps in anticipation of what’s going on. Unhappily, we don’t anticipate. We send out stimi checks so that we can buy Chinese toys on Amazon and we go around the planet earning new enemies.
If you watch the captured Russian POW videos a consistent theme is that they’re new conscripts with little training being told it was a training exercise. Makes one wonder if Putin was simply amassing a huge force on the border hoping to intimidate Ukraine and the West into meeting his demands but then backed himself into a corner and had to invade to save face when they didn’t back down.
Of course if the opposite is true and he always intended to invade while lying to the world that he wouldn’t for weeks on end and telling these poorly trained young men it was a just an exercise then he is an evil piece of shit.

Russia started divesting USD some years ago. I understand they hold more gold reserves than USD.
They are also one of the world’s largest arms manufacturers.
