The F-35 is the most expensive military project in the history of mankind. Thus far, it is $163b above budget and 7 years late. By the time the U.S. and its allies take possession of the last plane, which is scheduled for 2040, the project would have cost upwards of $1.5t.
Each plane will cost around $100m and the current price tag is upwards of $400b.

I think they were wrong from jump street requesting a plane that does everything, a jack of all trades. It makes things bloated and more fragile.
