The market has bought the “rumor” and will sell the news. Of What? Presumably a decisive election result. Wallstreet does their own internal polling just as the candidates do. Regardless, it’s possible there is just some frontrunning of the end of indecision.
Hillary will likely owe lots of favors to institution which is good for the large cap multinationals. She also wants a no fly zone in Syria which is probably good for defense companies and war.
Trump is probably a wreck and rebuild guy. He will restructure Washington, hopefully in the form of term limits, and reduce the corporate tax rate which should concentrate more money into the US but may do so at the cost of some global growth. How he will get term limits passed exactly, I’m not sure. Perhaps pass an executive order that prevents Washington from voting on their own salaries and terms and have some special arbiter, or perhaps find a way to put it on the ballots.
But remember… markets move in anticipation of events and fade reactions to events.
