Deutsche Bank: “We Saw This Happening in 2008”

The epic drop in the dry bulk index is starting to get some love. Instead of ignoring it as the useless “boat crap” index that it is, Deutsche Bank’s chief economist of Asia, Mr. Baig, posits “there is an over-capacity of dry goods and lack of demand.”

How wonderful.

By dry goods, essentially, he means iron ore, steel, tungsten, things of that nature. No one needs that shit anymore. We’re all building homes out of adobe and straw, chimneys made from wood, just like they did it in New Amsterdam, circa 1640.

The BDI is now, clownishly, quoted at 373.

This guy doesnt mention the oversupply of dry bulk ships? The BDI hasnt been an accurate read on global demand ever since they over built ships in 2007-2008… this douche bank fellow is a clown for not knowing that.

Does Dry Bulk haul gasoline? The economy is toast. Just look at the price of a gallon of gas. If we are booming due to “gas savings” why are retail names crashing? Dry bulk is just another dead canary. Look around. Titanic tape with hopefully one more dead cat bounce.

Is anything going down in price bullish anymore? Odd spot we find ourselves in. Guess they call it deflation. In other words no way to pay the interest on the debt.

It’s been bullish cuz Speculators and Iran have been using the tankers as floating Oil Storage Lots. AND OMG, it’s not just the BDI and a “lame oversupply of ships analysis”, look at the spot price for the commodities. Normally. the Greek Shippers just park ships if there are too many, but now there is no demand out there at all. BTW, fuck up the BDI and you fuck up Greece. Everything goes hand and hand.

@Trashman, I bet you have never listened to a conf call or a global conference round table from the shippers in your life. Also, this using Oil Tankers for storage theme was a biggie in 2008 too. Just ignore me and go buy FANGS, every one has for years….this Bubble is such an ugly mess that I will just sit here while you are all surprised when we sit at SPX 577ish.

Retail names are crashing because Amazon in taking their sales. Retailers will have to reconfigure to smaller stores and offer higher buy it today, right here prices or get it delivered this week for less to compete. Could be bad for retail real estate owners, too.
