I haven’t been bearish in years. Aren’t I afforded the levity to run with this idea, or am I supposed to juxtapose my opinion against the fleeting masses– because they’ve become idle, fat, lazy, and somewhat apathetic to the world around them?
You’re all pigs.
There is something very specific you have to remember when perusing my blog: it isn’t for you. This is my diary, where I reflect on ideas and establish hard evidence of my genius and tomfoolery. Nothing was right about my trading this week. I ended January without any gains, after spring-boarding +8% within the first two weeks.
It’s like a child playing with firecrackers; a responsible adult takes them away. Well, I saw myself juggling sticks of dynamite and opted to remove myself from the situation. No one was harmed, as I never placed a bearish bet. As a matter of fact, my ANGI, RPTP and AREX sales were rather timely, as all stocks remain below my sell points, not to mention BALT too.
So, do yourselves a favour and reserve the smugness for your wives, the person who puts up with your endless flaws and poor personal hygiene. I am not amused, regardless of how clever you might think you’ve been.

Fantastic. Truly, fantastic!
Dr. Fly, what action do you plan to take?
As a youngster, it was customary for a relative from New Mexico to bring me fireworks whenever they came out to visit. Of course, simple detonations became too tame, and more creative methods were sought between my friend and I. The escalation of our small bombings ultimately led to the undeveloped desert lot adjacent to the Jr. High School being burned out. Ironically, that lot is now where the community fire station stands…
you are right of course sir fly, the future is unwritten but your writing is a thing of beauty…we all pretty much get what we deserve in the end…very few win in this game and countless have tried…trade well all but watch the emotions and greed…thanks, peace and know your rights!…http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=5lfInFVPkQs
by definition, doomsday is always right around the corner
no worries, everyone will squeeze out the door at the same time
what? there sin’t know doors
The only Bear to fear is the Sochi Mascot.
Believe in the PPT:
February 3rd 2014 -> Oversold reading SPY close 174.17
February 7th 2014 -> SPY close 179.68
Incidentally the February 3rd was the 2nd of two oversold s in a week. The first oversold reading in PPT is often too soon to bite, the 2nd oversold signal is the one to jump in on. Remember this in the future.
you’re not alone,
and as always your opinions/views are greatly respected,
not all of us are pigs, some are wolves ; )
ever ready to round up the pack, and circle in for the bullish or bearish kill, patiently waiting for prey to expose their jugular, licking our chops with anticipation of blood under a full moon of desperation,
A good friend with brilliant advice once said ” there is no bull/bear, there is only the trend, follow the trend”
that being said, friday was strangely green across my screen,
overweighted golds/silvers very +ve
TNA, XIV & FAS also +ve,
when there is desperately overbullish sentiment, there is,……….
we all want you to perform well Sir Fly, when you win, we all win,
now lets re-group the wolves, and get ready for the kill
its hard to call someone using winky faces a wolf
?
proper english please,
its time for the pigs to get slaughtered
Truly you are a prophet of great wisdom. I fear that Obamacare and mechanized warfare will soon end corporate Americas’ world domination. A new economy is emerging where central bankers can’t matter and computers are the only bond traders left with any interest. Thank god we still have the 356 different combinations of burrito and the cheeseburger to wipe our asses with. Not to mention that Goldman needs to make the quarter.

WORD OF THE DAY
Feelings, nothing more than feelings. You are in love with the market and it has betrayed you. This too, shall pass.
You forgot to mention AFOP. Are you flat, or down for the year?
I am about flat. It’s hard to lose money when 90% cash
These decisions can break a man. Like the Six Million Dollar Man I have been broken. Unlike the 6MDM I rebuild myself. We are Warrior poets, we relish the battle and rise from the exhaustion and filth to fight another day. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Long live the fight! Fuckem, Fuckem all!
only they can be called a warrior poets who never leave the battlefield until victory is theirs and the thirsty from both sides have been given water…forward march
Sir Fly,
You may now remove your tampon,
now, carry on.
The problem with twitter is that following the link robs me of the experience of seeing your carefully selected home page photo prior to reading the post. I enjoy them as much as I do the blogs. Perhaps post them in the tweet?
The problem with Twitter is that is is a stupid concept for stupid people.
How lucid thoughts can be conveyed in 140 characters is beyond me.

I remember when I was just a kid, my mother had just finished knitting me a mohair sweater that took her months to knit whenever she could afford the spare time. I was wearing my new sweater on Victoria Day (Canada May 24th weekend) with pride when one of my buddies threw a firecracker at me and it literally blew my sweater up! Firecrackers can be like dynamite!

Being long in January wasn’t that great for me. I started buying a lot of stock and then got caught in the drop. But at that point I was still 70% cash. I didn’t sell anything except one pharma company that popped ($ECYT), but most of my positions are underwater, aggregate position value down 5%. The fact the correction occurred during earnings for a lot of my stocks didn’t help.
Point is, this market still has some technical damage to recover from, so I’m still a little wary.
Don’t be bitter Senior! You back on the black coffee?
anyone else find it pathetic that most of the comments here try and copy Fly’s writing style.
Too bad the Internet didn’t exist when Shakespeare was alive….
Yes, very. Also flys writing has been contrived lately.
But charisma (however seemingly foolish the message) always manages to fool a couple suckers.
Are you turning 47 this year?
Fly revealed his age inadvertently once.
Dr.Fly , can I reveal ? 🙂
Given the spelling of ‘favour’ he has a British heritage too.
He’s Irish and 36-38. The British spellings are a joke, guy lives in New Jersey
Not busting your decisions, Fly. Just surprised that you sold GOGO when it looks like a steal at this price. And at a loss no less. Cash is King. Smart man if you are right and market tanks. Wise man if market goes up and have fresh pow to play with! Keep blogging my friend, keep blogging…
Earnings are right around the corner for gogo and it is behaving like afop did before their miss. If I held and was wrong, the 13% loss would double.
I opted for cowardice
A good run is better than a bad stand
I thought GOGO reported earnings the week of Feb 10th but just read they are announcing March 13 before market open. Can anyone confirm this, thanks.
I see it as Earnings Conference Call: (855)500-1988 on Mar 13 2014 8:30AM but did think it was this coming week as well. Shenanigans.
Yup. It’s on their website. Strange they’d push earnings out to 4months since last ER date.
Schwab says MAR 13th and FINVIZ says FEB 10th on GOGO earnings
It’s this coming Monday
no GOGO earnings are on 13-Mar-14 from GOGO website…http://ir.gogoair.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=251827&p=irol-calendar
oops you are right… there was news release about the date yesterday
Good. The more bears now, the more buyers later. Long QQQ leaps, BBRY, YHOO, TWTR.
Imposter !!!
Gogo announced it will release earnings 3/14/13 at 08:30 ET. Feb 10th was an estimate, unconfirmed by the company.
John, shut up.
@Narredwhal I see you are one of those pathetic followers eh? a rose by any other name.
Who the fuck created the ski mogul? Fucked up torture event. Half the so called sporting events at the white winter olympics are, the other half are “judged” events. Feel like a racist just watching it.

Why yes, a pullback is certainly in order.

I love the commentary on Le Fly’s writing style…as if.

I don’t know about doomsday, Friday was a very strange up day, but volatility is not going away anywhere and the market is definitely not going to run up 20% here. I have no illusions about knowing where we are going, probably sideways for the most part, but my favorite type of trading is intraday so I’m all for the Earth being flat for the time being, or for us even reaching the illusive 10% correction. One thing about being in 90% in cash in my trading portfolio after a spectacular year, and being wrong about that next 4 or so weeks, is you lose nothing (in a real sense). Other than 90% cash, I’m in a little gold, a little propane, a little US dollar, a little biotech, some pipelines, and a few specs. Otherwise I plan on playing volatility and an IPO here or there. And selling more covered calls in my “permanent” holds.
Since Fly so graciously unlocked his blog for us pikers to comment, I feel compelled to leave one. No one actually knows where this market is going but each person has to do what they feel is necessary to protect their assets and quiet their fears to help them sleep at night. There is money to be made in this market regardless of direction. In the 2+ months that I have been playing options and stocks via OA, I am up 40% and 24% YTD. I am 36% cash and will sleep well tonight. Diversification, position size and collaboration with top traders are some of the keys to success. This market requires rhat you be nimble and willing to alter your views at a moments notice. I reduced my equity exposure about two weeks ago but getting ready to redeploy. If we are up Monday and Tuesday, we are off to the races. But no one knows. So be ready to be like Jack – nimble – and cash in on the volatility. Good luck and good trading
