Some of you devils and demons are in so called virtuous loops, fixated on material items, only interested in things that you can touch and show to friends, family and enemies alike. The other half of you conduct yourselves with the utmost rectitude, shying away from vices, fashion and other forms of vanity, to live simpler lives, pedestrian dwellings on the farm or housing tenements, what have you.
But are you really living, or simply taking up time?
We can discuss the markets and how BALT is eventually destined to rip the skin, muscles and ligaments off of Jennifer’s skull, but what’s the point? We all know by now that “The Fly wins all the time” and any attempts to circumvent his authority on stocks, and other matters, is an exercise in extreme futility.
Is there anything else worth discussing?
Have you read a book lately, watched a movie that made you think? Have you tried new foods, traveled to interesting places?
Often times we place ourselves in a frenzied state, chasing the dream, trying to grab a piece of immortality. But who are we doing it for? Do your children care if you made $2 million per annum or $200k?
I am not interested in becoming a new man, with the onset of the New Year, or making resolutions that only placate my deepest insecurities. Each and every day, I try to gain wisdom by seeking out the truth. It comes in various forms, possessed by both the well to do and the canaille. I find it in books, theatre, cinema and even here, in the slums of the internets, where garrulous men walk about the digital highway throwing mashed potatoes at one another.
If there is one thing that I could recommend for you to do in 2014, it is this: let the stock market work for you, not the other way around. Let the obsessed do their jobs and provide you with the wisdom you need to finance life, or in my case: death rays orbiting in outer space. It is my burden to find the truth in the stock market and I’ve become quite efficient at it over the years. It has taken me thousands of hours to understand its intricacies and it still tricks me to this day.
This is not a playground for the unwashed, haphazard, vagabond, amateur chess player to parlay family fortunes in the hopes of creating real, sustainable wealth. The market isn’t going to be this easy in 2014 and I suspect you’d be better suited seeking out new catamites, than to develop new trading methods that are sure to crush your bones into the hard rocks of despair.
Cheers!

Fly, congrats on a great year. I’ve posted in the past under Tampa Trader but went underground and off the grid to write a book. Can you send me your email, and I will email you the title in the event you enjoy legal thrillers?
thanks and congrats on a great year,
RC
I’d love to have a look

You’re the man, Fly.
The trick is to live the life of rectitude, while prudently dabbling in excessive cocaine parties only on occasion to keep life interesting.
and to buy fine art at ruinous prices.
“Without genuine concern this is all worthless.”
The Passion of Command: The Moral Imperative of Leadership
Good book.
FLY when and IF it suits you could you list a top 10 of sorts in regards to “must read” literature (fiction) for the masses of uncultured, unrefined rubes such as myself?
Count of Monte Cristo
War and Peace
Three Musketeers
The Sun also Rises
Scaramouche
Don Quioxte
Great Gatsby
Bleak House
Anna Karenina
Rum Diary
Start with those.
Obliged sir. Personal favorite of yours?
By far, The Count of Monte Cristo
I agree with the recommendation of Count of Monte Cristo 100%. The week-plus it took me to read it I felt like I was living the story. Great call
Gotta read at least one Dostoevsky, comrades.
+1 and I’ve read pretty much all of Dumas when I was a kid, this is his best work.
Great read if you enjoyed The Count of MC: http://www.amazon.com/The-Black-Count-Revolution-Biography/dp/0307382478

Ain’t that the truth. I have a feeling that 2014 is not going to be kind to the wannabes that made the EZ monee this year.
Going to Peru in February, then Greece and Italy in the spring.
going to Greenville, SC in Feb. i’ll keep y’all updated
Currently reading the New Malcom Gladwell book David & Goliath – good read. My fav is gotta be The Brothers Karamazov
Berkshire Hathaway letters to shareholders 1965-2012. loaded with nuggets.
Monday it’s time to BACK the Truck up on ANGI. $19 time
Yes
Just wished I would’ve went in when you called it at $12 after the triple bottom. Might as well hang a “Duh” sign up that said “Free Money ” next week.
Dear Fly, The Count is a personal favorite of mine as well. Have you seen or will you be going to see The Wolf of Wall St? Ever read the book? I thought the book was much better although all of the performances in the movie were excellent.
I’ll wait for it to come out on DVD. I have no interest in the movie.
TWTR blow off top. Two days to go with Bond yields breaking out. What could go wrong? Time to start looking for some shorts? MCK has a gonna dump look building.
Dr,
somebody recently told me about this place in France – actual prison Dumas used for Count – I want to visit one day

why do I get the feeling a lot of you boys get manicures and pedicures?
I have always enjoyed Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle. Mini and I will read it together this year methinks.
Count of Monte Cristo? That’s required reading back in my middle school days.
The sandwich is quite delicious too.
I thought Jennifer’s comments were useful reflections. New supply growing faster than demand and a lot of new ships in the current inventory which will have a long operating life. Incremental bulk commodity demand requires the most shipping so shipping demand comes off faster when demand slows. But then I am still waiting for cement and steel prices to crash to depression levels so what do I know?
Add to your equation; who has the most fuel efficient fleet in terms of cost per ton moved?
SALT does I believe…new eco ships which are the most fuel efficient, and are approved by major regulators.
Garrulous canaille seeking out unwashed catamites.
Lok
Fly.
$IBC needs a board meeting in regards V.King’s tabbed status.
That is all.
Wouldn’t touch ANGI myself
if anyone has never read his postings…….check out Mr Cain Thaler,,,penning some very good work
Cain and Raul don’t get nearly enough attention. They are dangerous animals.
Wolf of Wallstreet was a good movie, however a bit long.
But it’s basically like watching a porno with lots of drugs for three hours at your local cinema with 200 other people. In fact, two people in my row left about twenty minutes in just disgusted by the pornography.
Wtf?
Did you ask them why they left? Or are you some really crazy guy that thinks this kind of shit up? Wtf for real.
Iron bird, yes I asked them to fill out a comment card on a clipboard as they exited.
TUR anyone ready to jump in?
There may be a trade there, but it comes with some event risk.

Fly, any thoughts on SALT? A recent dry bulker IPO, managed by the same team that runs STNG (products tankers).
