Your mother is a goat-sucking whore! If my stocks go down tomorrow because of you, I am going to fill this fancy box with your testicles (maniacal laugh…OVER).

“After viewing new polls, House GOP not only planing on reopening government but considering opening second government for good measure.”

The house is the country and it is republican. The senate can be dominated by the big city vote. How the fuck can the polls be right? Republicans that control the fucking house have never been hated more? Really?

      Really.

The House districts were heavily gerrymandered in favor of the GOP after the 2010 Census and the 2010 elections that switched control of so many state legislatures to the GOP.

In 2012, Dem House candidates nationwide got 1.4 million more votes than GOP candidates, but the GOP ended up with far more seats. One estimate I’ve seen is that the Democrats would have to have a nationwide advantage of 6% in House races in order to win a majority of House seats.

These very safe gerrymandered districts have the side effect of pushing the GOP House to the right of their own districts.

With no need to worry about attracting Dem or Indy voters in the safe GOP districts, GOP candidates get elected by winning the GOP primary. The biggest danger in the primary is giving an opponent too much room on the right.

But wait, there’s more. Primaries attract fewer, but more motivated voters than do general elections. These very motivated voters are not the moderates of the party. A candidate who gets elected by winning the GOP primary is a candidate who gets elected by appealing to hardliners in the party.

Put it all together, and you get a GOP House forcing government shutdown over a program that Obama is not ever going to give up, a GOP House threatening not to increase the debt ceiling unless they are paid a political ransom, a GOP House with a not-insignificant minority of members who deny that freezing the debt ceiling is at all dangerous, and a GOP House with record-low favorability numbers.

ottnot, I think your comment is well thought out.

People who are motivated take action.
A negative “NO” view or a bad experience is more likely to create action. Sometimes “the vote” is more of a function of motivation to recall and response, rather than a numerical consensus.

For example, I’m not unequivocally cautious of a retailer with 100 online reviews, many of them hugely negative.
What is more significant is the retailer does enough business to attract 100 reviews, and since people are more motivated by bad things, naturally many of the reviews will be horrific.

The retailer to be wary of is the one with 5 reviews and 4 are excellent. It would be statistically and psychologically incorrect to make a conclusion with that sample size.

The voting can still be screwed because the large city populations are all dem. Chicago, New York, LA, Seattle, Miami.
