This evening, “The Fly” attended dinner hosted on a farm, a fund raiser of sorts, where good doing men and women congregated to stuff their faces on behalf of the needy. The irony of tonight’s meal was dripping in sarcasm. I met an interesting older lady, who works for the state department. She took an immediate liking to my wife. Hell, everyone takes an immediate liking to my wife. She has an innocent charm that appeals to 99.9% of people.
I, on the other hand, posses a more ‘abrasive charm’ that tends to put people on the edge of their seats. I like to challenge the small brains of others. It’s not often when someone blows me away. It happened a few months ago at a local dinner party. I like to focus on detail, in all things. When someone can inform me of a small detail, a side note, of something that I deem to be important, I become impressed.
Tonight’s discussion surrounded around how fortunate we are to be alive during the digital revolution. The industrial revolution might have paved the way to mechanized world; but the digital revolution is connecting us. Hundreds of years from now people will reflect on this period of time, that we are fortunate to be born into, and revel in its genius. This is the nascency of real enlightenment, something the renaissance only pretended to spread. All of this had me thinking: why am I tooling around with boat stocks and peripheral names when in fact there is something ground changing before me?
It’s equal to buying kerosine refiners at the beginning of the industrial revolution.
People have access to vast amounts of information, thanks to connectivity. There is immense value in it and I know the old man in you will reject it as a ‘fad.’ You are wrong to think this way, just like the Persians were wrong to believe their stupid culture would conquer the world.
Times are changing fast. Companies like GOOG, AAPL, YELP, ANGI, Z, TRLA and AMZN are are at the forefront of connectivity, standing to profit from the ongoing progress being made between humans and information.
Think about it before you size up another gold and coal chart.

Well said. However, I will always feel that everything in today’s maket is a trade. You can point to being long in the connectivity age but buy and hold them…. that Fly is one tall order when you have markets that hang on every word of the Federal Reserve chairman.
I think internet revolution gets us out of the next major downturn in 3-5 years or whenever it finally occurs. Sometime in a generation robots will replace everyone and that will be the robotic revolution that creates insane production.
Perhaps in 100 years life extension technology will make immortality almost a reality, cures for cancer and major diseases and so on.
After that there will be Infrustructure robotics… Cities that build themselves and the globalization of these self-creating cities. Of course food will remain a need.
Maybe in 200 years Hoverboards, teleports, time machines, intergalactic space travel, travel outside of our galaxy, and extra dimensional contact and “galactical growth” will be the new “globalization”. Expansion to other planets, modifying the climate, proximity to the sun, and atmosphere of planets in our solar system to make them sustainable and to allow interplanetary travel and trade and so on.
Of course there will be periods of Major universal warfare and risks of extermination of our entire species in the process. But it won’t matter, because time travel will alter all of the present and future and the past timelines will only be the lives we connect with while we are asleep and dreaming. Alternate timelines, alternate timeline travel… travel between potential timelines that haven’t been created, travel between alternate universe with alternate timelines, travel between the 7th,8th and 9th dimensions and so on….
The exponential function of technological growth is so incredible it could be stunning what happens in the next even 20 years… Particularly if time travel becomes a reality and effectively opens the portal to infinite growth of technology… Simply travel into the future and come back into the past with new ideas and inventions then solutions appear before we even knew they were a problem.
Oh dang, I foot about the rise of zombies that fire laser beams out of their eyeballs as a result of a failure to bring people back to life who have been cryogenically frozen!!
Hahahahahhah just kidding.
But… It is a crazy generation to be young. If we can avoid primitive wars and killing people over imaginary friends and invisible lines, and focus our resources on production and innovation, the discoveries will be incredible,
Humans are retarded. At the end of the day all we need to do is eat, sleep, fuck and occasionally do drugs. We have created something that distracts us from our inherent inclinations. Technology is really just a waste of time, I hope a giant asteroid hits Silicon Valley and wipes out humanity soon.
Occasionally? Fuck that. Who shovels the shit for this new breed of monkey is the timeless question.

Even Thomas Edison was wrong about AC vs. DC current. Edwin Armstrong was right about FM vs. AM, yet RCA’s Sarnoff tormented him and Armstrong leapt to his death from his River House apartment in NYC.

People are terrible at predicting the future. This has been proven over and over by studies looking at everything from technology to political developments. Experts in the respective fields are rarely, and only infinitesimally better than non-experts at predicting the future. Anyone who says, “In X years the blah blah blah is going to be…,” is selling something or full of crap; which is to say, he is just being a normal human.
