Yo i was just looking for a new apt for June 1st. Saw a studio at 90 Washington and then read reviews online that said it was absolute garbage. For $2500 a month you would think you could get a decent apt below 14th st in Manhattan. Anyone on IBC have any advice/recommendations?

They are also fucking over our most efficient industry by introducing a mining tax.
Earlier during their period in office they scrapped the largely free labor market rules introduced by the conservatives and we now have some of the highest wages in the world.
Productivity has been non-existent over the past 4 years they’ve been in office. Some economists suggest it has gone negative.
The miners have basically told these fuckknuckles that Australia is now a high cost mining nation and that they will be putting their investment dollars in places that are more competitive.
Due to the high dollar the non-mining sector has been basically fucked and teetering in recession.
Watch this place quickly fall in line as a potential PIIG over the next 12 months seeing it’s basically fucked.

Mining investment in Australia is expected to increase around 150 percent in two years. Forrest, Rinehart, Palmer et. al. aren’t quitting.
As for “serious fiscal tightening” – a surplus of 1.5-2B hardly represents a shock. I think the govt (and for that matter the opposition) are incompetent fools but “the place” is not about to collapse as you suggest.

that’s a tough rent level. You might want to check Brooklyn, Park Slope. $2,500 in NYC doesn’t get much, maybe a studio.
You are correct. You can get a decent studio for $2,500. A nice one bedroom will definitely run north of $3,000.

Would you consider living in midtown? You can get doorman studios for under $2,500 in the west 50s. Also in midtown on the east side.
Try financial district, you can find something for $2500 for a studio pretty much anywhere in NYC, just need to lower the standards.
My kid has an apartment the size of a toilet by the standards I’m used to for $2000 per month on Mott street.
