ADP reported a net gain of just 117k jobs, way off of the fucking forecast of 170k+, which had already been revised lower from 200k+. But the Dow is at 4 year highs and PCLN is going to a $1,000 p/s. I’m fucking confused; what’s going on here?
Rest assured, with the elections around the corner, liquidity awaits in the balance, courtesy of the Federal Reserve.
Hey, PEP just upped their dividend to 4%. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather keep my cash in PEP than some fucking “savings” account yielding less than 0.5%.
European markets are now nosediving after opening strong as fuck. Blame it on a plethora of weak PMI’s. Look, I get it; Europe is fucked and we’re just scheming our way to prosperity. Regardless, I still like PEP and its 4% divvy.
Bottom line: we’re likely to give up yesterday’s gains–not a big deal in the BIG scheme of things. Go eat a sandwich.

My sentiments exactly. I have my shopping list ready. Good luck on YELP.
Just got through reading last night’s missive and happen to catch this one. The Fly always finds a way to win!
I only own GDX and FCX…they seem perfect for this tsunami of liquidity that we all know is coming, and yet….red red red.
i shall attempt to be patient.
Morning Dr.
Interesting – PEP is one of my largest positions since February
http://ibankcoin.com/partridge/2012/02/09/thirsty/
never thought it’s your kind of stock…
Good luck on your YELP
I own PEP too
“scheming our way to prosperity” I am going to get bumper stickers made with that on them.
I like “schlepping our way to prosperity” 🙂
A true gentleman would say, “mucking about indeud, on our way to prosperity”.
For the YELPers:

No sandwich. Flowers to plant. Soil to till. Bought some BP in the pre-market. Nice Div. Rock on Fly
plant grain instead, potatoes and Orange trees instead, it may help with the zombie cannibals when Obama brings armegeddon and a possible fiscal collapse of Amuslimerica
Taters and onions are in the ground here. I can’t get the warm weather stuff (Tomatoes, basil, corn, etc.) in because of the incessant rain here (damn). Last year caught the dog peeing on the tomato plants….. Told the wife to wash the tomatoes before eating (hehe)
Aren’t you opposed to owning MCD because they kill people? And PEP doesn’t?
I don’t mind people drinking the occasional soda. MCD is straight killing poor people
I went to the MCD to use the washroom today. It was nice. I didn’t buy anything.
Are you saying the market will be manipulated since it is an election year? No way…LOL BTW, I’m feeling older by the day with all the talk about those dividends.
4% increase, not 4% div yield.
You’re right. Divvy is north of 3%
The market is open and its another low volume day. Sitting on 100% cash. I don’t like it but the computers can go fuck themselves. I don’t want to play.
may buy chk, or not . someone stole the cork off my breakfast, and in not slurring my words: im speaking in cursive.
80% cash, but the holdings i have SUCK
bot chk 16.99 small.
more 16.85
CHK is a worthless POS company. Take your intraday profits and move on…
^^^ This.
Aw Fuck! This market sucks cock!
LOL, tell us how you really feel
buy more wprt?
I haven’t looked closely at it but Newmont Mining’s divvy is almost 3% .
good call
ZAZA attempting to BO of a C&H formation, soon!
Update on OCZ…no lunch for Mad Willie. har!
can’t tell you how close I came to pulling the trigger before the close but opted to wait … Whew!
I have been looking at YELP on alexa. Something very interesting is this:
” The site is particularly popular among users in the cities of San Francisco (where it is ranked #13) and San Diego (#18).”
ranked 13th out of all websites in San Fran???!!! That’s friggin huge!
I’m buying right now! Good call Fly.
GSVC ripping nicely today.
There was a post in the ibc financial news network that talked about Hugh Hendry positing that one more washout in the equity markets would set up the buying opportunity of a lifetime. Right here, right now there is a washout happening in the long vol trade ($VIX) that is setting up an epic buying opportunity for later this summer.
WOW, YELP is way undervalued. If you look at their main competitor Groupon, which happens to have a lower rank on Alexa, their market cap is 6 billion. Versus only 1.36 billion for Yelp.
Yelp is most popular in San Francisco and San Diego, with local Alexa ratings above 20 in each market. As a perspective MSN is 17th overall and ebay is 21st. This site is ranked higher than reddit.com, photobucket.com, myyearbook.com, hulu.com, digg, foxnews, and many others.
And it is only in select markets at this point.
Fly has this one nailed imo. We will see what happens after the close, but I believe Fly is on the button based on Alexa.
I live in Cleveland, I’m 40, so I don’t know much about this stuff, but I have a strange feeling 20 something’s are starting to use yelp quite a bit.
Thanks for the pick Fly!!
FIG,
Good to see another Ohoian on IBC. I’m originally from Lakewood/Westlake. Currently living in Cincinnati suburb. Good luck with YELP. Moving nice today as shorts scramble to cover ahead of earnings.
Cheers.
Gotta love how Fly disses Ohio when he talks of middle America. He’s right I suppose.
20 somethings are whore hedonists that at one time were sending OPEN Flying to the moon. Now with 30% short stuff maybe there is still a play.
TRIP is really jumping.
The key for YELP, imo, is to get that word on the mind of people to be the GO TO site for local ratings etc.
There is plenty of room for growth even down to the smaller cities. They just have to be like that annoying song stuck in people’s heads.
I foresee a Super Bowl ad in a year or two with some B level star running through a city yelling YELP ME.
It looks like the Taliban hit Kabul just hours after Obama gave his “let’s wrap this up” speech.
In one hand I have some YELP; in the other, some Xanax. Let’s do this.
Dow 9000.
Obama owns YELP too? The president always wins, even when he’s losing, just like Le Fly.
Should be interesting. YELP & WNR
ADP weaker then estimates, but nothing like 2009/2010. Yep, Europe PMI’s sucked bigtime. IMHO, I still think our Scheme is up, Employment and Price Control (CPI type, not stock market type, lol). If both NFP and CPI are not nosediving or skyrocketing..the Clam can’t act..and ECB and BoE, the QEers of the second half of 2011 can’t act either.
I should proofread..Employment and Price Control edit “are the Duel Mandate of the FOMC”. Forgot that line up there.
TOS futures this platform is garbage, and their “support” isn’t much better. Again today, price rejections & massive slippage because the market was away from what TOS was showing on its chart and Active Trader. Even the chart and AT didn’t agree. After having several thousand dollars in profits vanish, I called. I was told that since they aren’t in New York, to expect delays of price from .5 to 2 seconds (funny, but the CME is in Chicago where TOS is, not New York). I told them this was not acceptable as my IB platform sitting right next to TOS was working flawlessly. They told me that is the way it is, and if I didn’t like it to move my accounts. So that is exactly what I am doing. Pulling >$5mil from them, and moving all my customer accounts too. And TOS wanted me to move my licenses to them and work under their name. No way in hell. if you value your futures trading account, don’t get near these people.
Things like this were commonplace during their merger with TD. Its a shame really. Lost a 3k trade last year due to this.
Fly,
The sad truth is had you just held on to FTK 18 months ago and not sold a share you would have been better off than having been an active trader and constantly turning over your portfolio. Goes to show that holding onto winners is still the best strategy…
Did u just sell YELP or something? 3:15pm….wtf
I’ve been adding calls before earnings like a riverboat gambler, because it has a real potential to go startrek after the bell. Downside is limited to premium, which is about 1.5% of account.
