In defense of NYC: do not think for a second that your mid-west hell is something that I desire, nor anyone with a modicum of class and/or intelligence would migrate into. The truth is: NYC has the finest restaurants, museums, theater and financial apparatus in the world. Comparing your butt-fuck state, littered with cows and rows upon rows of corn fields, is ridiculous and an abomination to all gentlemen, spanning the globe. Moreover, I am fully aware of how backwards people from down south are, with their childish religious beliefs and consummate social and financial humiliations. However, I am willing to “turn a blind eye” to my BBQ brethren to the south, in exchange for some sweet tea and homemade biscuits with gravy.

As an aside, I also find you ridiculous that you are suited in a burlap Santa Claus costume, shorting stocks before Christmas. Rule of thumb: when October goes gangbusters to the upside, NEVER short the Santa Claus rally. We will trade up tomorrow, whether you like it or not. Having said that, I will be using this week’s strength to book profits, in preparation for 2011. It is my belief, instinctively, that early 2011 will be challenging for equity investors. As a result, I intend to position accordingly.

Until then, I do like anything commodity based. It’s not important to give you picks right now, but a general outline. As you well know, I am chockful of ideas throughout the trading session, all which are disseminated in a timely fashion inside of The PPT (think X-mas present) and 12631.

The holidays aren’t gonna be joyous for all of you. Quit pretending you know anything and go with the flow.

    Fly,
I F’ed up and need your great wisdom I know I don’t deserve it and am not worthy but if you could find it in the kindness of christmas spirit I need to know what to do. I have GAP and as you probably already know it has been halted after dropping like a rock on BK rumors friday. Should I sell and take a huge loss now or pray the santa gods will somehow save me.
Ps. Can I send you my money for you to manage? Cause I suck at this.

dont buy and sell single stocks unless you know what you are doing…stick with ETFs. You can do plenty of damage that way, but you don’t have the single-company risk like you just experienced.

I do not accept internet money. Therefore, respectfully, I must decline your kind offer.

Sell it. They will file BK.

The A&P in Summit, NJ looked like a Baghdad Bazaar 25 years ago. Can’t believe it took so long for that company to go tits up.

Yeah, right. It’s humiliating living south of the Mason-Dixon line. Not being able to pay $7,00/month for a 750 sq. ft. cage, taking the subway to work and back, working with, eating out with, drinking with metrosexual man pals carrying their man purses even when not out on a man date. Miss the pseudo intellectual poofs taking the helicopter in from LI to avoid the mouthpiece waiting to foreclose the Hamptons place. Fuck all the self appointed paragons of perfection so busy bullshiting about the market they run late for their Scientology meeting. What a crock, NYC and environs flakes pretending to talk pussy when the only ones in their club talking pussy are the girls, if that’s what yall still call them.

you clearly haven’t lived in nyc and, if you have, it was long enough ago that a wee bit of senility has crept into your brain

Wrong boyo, wrong. Lived and worked in NYC and there is a helluva lot more than a wee bit of senility in this desiccated brain. But, by divine intervention I am empowered to call it eccentricity.

One thing about a fly over state, they wouldn’t let a slimebag build a mosque on ground zero. Just think, on the 9-11 anniversary there were 1500 folks protesting against building the mosque and 2500 in favor of building the mosque. Just for that I hope they build the damn thing right on top of ground zero and teach those folks in NYC a lesson about what it is to be a man.

Pussified. Then they will cry crocdile tears when the terrorists begin recruiting inside and outside the mosque. Gee, we never thought that would happen. Who in heavens name could have foretold that.

Speaking of bankruptcy, Blockbuster (BLOBQ)(BLOAQ) is trading in the $0.04 range. What happens to those shares when/if they emerge from bankruptcy and a new offering is completed? I would like to buy a pittance for shits and giggles. I’ve never bought a stock in bankruptcy and am clueless about how it works when/if they emerge from bankruptcy.

I was cleaning house this afternoon,
and came upon LIFE’s One Nation, America Remembers September 11, 2001.
You can say whatever shit you want about NYC (and I grew up in Massachusetts so I have little love for anything NY),
but the bottom line is that NYC represents
all the hopes and dreams of folks pursuing the American Dream,
whatever that dream means to them.
There’s an old saying, you can be a part of the problem
or a part of the solution,
so “Fuck You” to anyone who shits on America in general.

Louisiana is a fun state. U would like it, Fly. The areas across the lake from New Orleans anyway. But they would show you that money isn’t everything to everyone. Many people there manage to have lots of fun, even though they don’t have much money. And the food is wonderful, spicy, and inexpensive. If U have never visited the place, U R really missing something. New Orleans is mostly Catholic, but very laissez faire Catholic . Religion, just like most things in life, is not taken that seriously there. There is a play ethic rather than a work ethic. If I didn’t mind the heat so much I would still be there. I miss it a lot. Here in the Pacific Northwest people are nice but they are kind of boring and non-expressive. (Please don’t tell them the Frog said that.) Maybe they all have the Seasonal Affective Disorder depression from lack of sun. New Orleans in some ways does not feel like part of the South to me, or part of any region, because it is quite unique.

Best restaurants is a pretty debatable claim. I would wager that title would belong to a collection of restaurants scattered here and there. See the question would be… best what? Best filet? Best walleye? Buffet? Pancake? Burger? And so on.

And the beauty of restaurants is that you never know when / where / what that best will be found.

I miss the restaurants, wall street, and that’s about it. Not a fan of the theater and been to all the museums too many times. Other then that when I grew up and lived in NY I was pissed off ready to snap all the time. Always on the lookout for scams bullshit (helps with trading).
Moving to a more country setting made me a nicer person and more focused on what I’m doing rather then wanting to smash the guys face next to me.
Hope someone does something about that mosque as well. Some Arabs in many different places in the city were partying in the street right after Sept 11 at least for a week under police protection too. Couldn’t believe that shit .
That BS wouldn’t happen in my old (pre Rudolph) Ny. How it changes in a short time, safer yet softer. At least some of those cops got sick of protecting them, turned their backs and let the citizens do there thing after a few days of having to listen to there chanting and partying over the towers falling. I heard it was happening in Detroit at that time as well and no one did nothing .
They do have the best restaurants imo , so much competition keeps the food good . I miss the Italian food and bagels more then anything.

Sorry to hear about who had(GAP) A&P,Waldbaum’s, and Pathmark go under, never thought that would happen. Guess they could have lost too much share from the hipsters going to whole foods.
If it opens down huge ,Maybe look to sell into some short covering intraday pop to exit trade.
