Revolution is Upon Us

Just so you know, effective midnight, ALL iBC BLOGGERS, with exception to Woodshedder, Senator JakeGint and myself, will be locked out of the site, in order to make way for “election festivities.” What does this mean for you, the common folk?

Well, for one, it will means an education, in the arts of political science. Secondly, I will teach you all you need to know about freedom, AND MORE. The Honourable Fly will be presiding over you lowly aristocrats, as if he was passing judgment for the after life. Tomorrow’s elections will shape America for generations to come and effectively send those commy/scum bastards back to where they belong (country clubs, upscale mansions, high end resort areas with exotic women etc.).

I will teach you all you need to know about politics, with the trusty help of my left leaning comrades, Senator JakeGint and Holly WoodShedder.

If your primary concern is stocks/bonds/commodities etc, you are an idiot, for a guillotine with your name on it hangs in the balance. Today’s trade is worthless dog crap aka “mere child’s play”, while tomorrow’s vote is the treasury. My positions are set in stone, just up to the point where I shatter said stone with my bare fists and release them. You should know, my long positions are making me rich again, while VXX is just being silly ol’ VXX.

At any rate, prepare for the revolution, as if bowl a sugar was thrown into your face, in the midst of a beehive getting its face kicked in with a baseball bat.

Bush passed an unfunded Medicare prescription drug benefit and started two wars that have been funded by the Chinese buying our bonds. That is the Republican Communism – do it anyway, do not fund it and give the richest a big tax cut. It is like the line from the Mel Brooks movie ‘Blazing Saddles’ – “Our town [country] is turning into shit….” It does not matter who/what is on power, it is all bad. They are doing their best to make Nixon look better in hindsight. –Screwed We Are

Let me guess… public school educated?

For all Bush’s alleged spending misfeasance, he didn’t get to a trillion in the wink of an eye like these current mithah flickas did.

            Jake,

Obama has cut taxes on most Americans. Fact.

Enough with the nonsense. We saw exactly how the Republicans rule. Communism for the rich; the plank for the middle class. Cut the crap already and start acting like a thoughtful person. The republicans have ruined this country.

Show me that “Fact.” All I know is that the healthcare bill ALONE raises my taxes by more than 5%.

That’s not including letting the 2003 cuts lapse, which will immediately become the largest tax increase in history. Obama cut about $2 and no one knows about it because it was a joke, and rescindable in two years.

            Clue in.

You are really such a little lackey tool if you think for a moment this trip to the polls will bring us some form of profound change. Fat-cat partisanship is the lowest common denominator, and that is where we’re at.

Both Democrats and Republicans have it wrong. Democrats and tax and spend and Republicans are tax cuts and spend. You can’t have a trillion dollar a year deficit for the next ten years and come out ok. Spending has to be cut including the entitlements. Revenue has to increase one way or the other. I don’t like paying taxes any more then anyone else but with the dollars 14% decline over the last couple of months and all commodities going up by an average of 50%, we are paying for it one way or another anyway. We have to live within our budget as a country just like we do as families.
BTW I am a registered independent that has voted mostly Republican. The last 8 years the Republicans were in office showed me that they are not as fiscally responsible as they claim to be. The congressmen from my state were among the worst of them. They kept getting elected because they were bringing home the bacon.
We are going to need a little more common sense then we have shown as a country for the last decade or so.

i am a republican the way you so-called republicans are not; you radio-listening tv-watching detractors who have to get your opinion and what to criticize from radio-blowhard or fox. where were you all when bush2 was doing his best to destroy the country? bush never saw a program that he liked that he would not pass with no funding (no child left behind, medicare prescription drug, etc.).

if you think we would not have massive deficits right now with a republican president, you are wrong; a republican president would have promoted and passed the same ‘recovery’ plan. and the republican pundits would be hailing republican president for ‘saving the country’ and saying that “deficits don’t matter”. and that is what you would ‘think’. i suppose you are supporting newt blah blah gingrich next time around?

Rob — you’re full of shit, so sorry. Why is it that seminar Leftists that try to claim they are old school Republicans (you are not even a RINO, so sorry) always come out with the bullshit about Fox news and the tube?

Do you realize how lamely transparent you are? And we had Bush for eight years and NEVER had the kind of deficits CUMULIATIVELY that your boy O’Bammy has put in place in tje ;ast two. And that was with two gigantic raging wars going on that we were actually trying to WIN. Some trick your guy pulled with his trillion dollar spending spree. Now he only has to blow his was in Afghanistan for the Biggest Loser title.

Your buddy Jimmah Cahtah will be relieved, at least.

And no, I will not be supporting Newt Gingrich, who is nowhere near conservative enough for me. Besides, he couldn’t win in a million years with all his baggage.

Mitch Daniels is the best out there right now, but Christie might convince me too.

And Rob? — try to be more honest with yourself, because you are fooling NOBODY.

jake. i am not trying to fool anyone. no one will ever take me out of the republican party, even as fucked up as it is. i prefer we cut massively as britain has done and repeal the bush tax cuts; it will take a long time and some hard stands to undo this mess, many years and many bought and paid for politicians in the making. winston churchill at times despised the conservative party too. it is ok for me to be a republican and currently despise the party. we need leadership that we do not have [and it will not come from the old hacks nor from meg whitman et al]. it is a sick county, a sick political discourse and a lousy outlook not matter what.

Why would repealing the Bush tax cuts work, exactly? Did you ever take an economics class? Why would you attack the private sector at its most vulnerable point?

Yes, cut spending to the bone, so that you do not have to harm the vulnerable private sector by raising taxes again. The Bush tax cuts were nothing– they only took the top level to 35%. Reagan’s top level was 28%! Federal Taxes should NEVER be higher than that, and raising them is only self-defeating if growth and employment is your aim.

Cut the Federal government to a defense oriented entity, as it was ordained in the Consitution and devolve the remaining powers to the States, as directed.

If you beleive that then you can say you are a Republican, if all you want to do is pay for O’Bama’s bigger government, you can turn in your decoder ring now.

i am not so sure what the constitution specifies – my guess is not much – about defense, but i do know that Jefferson warned about overseas involvement.

Jake i remember when clinton looked in the camera the first time i remember with a big public lie and said, “i tried harder than i have tried anything in my whole life to give a middle class tax cut [that i promised] but i just couldn’t do it.” i laughed at at him a the time, but in the fullness of time, i realize that he had Robert Rubin behind him telling him that the country needed fiscal stability, and it worked. low deficit, strong dollar, confident markets. what we are doing now, should it continue, has to come back to haunt us.

it is going to take us at best ten years or more to get our fanances in order, even with massive spending cuts and tax increases – tax increases by the way should be a republican position, not the knee-jerk mantra of tax cuts – leading to lower deficits. if we do not get our collective balance sheet in order, then i fear in ten years time the country being financially prostrate with its pants down begging china and whoever else not to fuck us. it is not a pretty picture, there are no neat, clean or easy ways out of this mess. as churchill said, ” i offer only blood, tears, toil and sweat…”

reagan, by the way, was the original big spender.

            Jake, et al:

How do you think we arrived at this moment, the largest recession in the history of the country? Do you just blindly blame Obama and Pelosi?

That is short-sighted and misguided. I don’t mean to suggest that Democrats are any better when it comes to the deficit, although they have a better case for saying so based on the contrasting fiscal records of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

That said, the national debt belongs to both parties. At least the Democrats don’t go on Fox News day after day proclaiming how fiscally conservative they are, and organize tea parties to rant about deficits, without ever putting forward any plan for reducing them. Nor do they pretend that they have no responsibility whatsoever for projected deficits, at least half of which can be traced directly to Republican policies.

By the way, if you actually supported George W., which would be shocking considering that you seem like a scholarly gentleman, I would recommend reading the following book: Impostor: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy.

Thank you self-revealing Democrat controlled Congress since 2006.

It’s apparent with all that cigar smoking down in the nether regions, old Bill has forgotten exactly how the budget is constructed and passed.

For a “refresher” old Bill might want to look at the deficits during Bush’s first six years, and then the deficits that followed Nancy and Harry Reid’s ascension into power.

And Bill? Try to keep in mind that we had two wars raging before Nancy and Spendthrift Harry showed up.

No one has a talent for wasting the taxpayer money like you vote-purchasing Dems. Seeya for another 30 years or so.

Question is this: which party enabled the reversal of the glass stiegel, increases the amount of leverage the banks could take on, and which party is fighting tooth and nail every attempt to legislate the banking criminal cartel? Republican Party is the humanities largest destructive force and will impoverish 99% of youse cocsuckers for the benefit of very few cartels. Dems will only impoverish 80% of you:) and as a bonus, will have the priveledge of utilizing a few bridges that lead to nowhere!
Other than that they are both inept/paid for ‘institutions’ and reps would have printed same or more as the dems have done in the last two years. See, they both take advise/orders from the banking cartel. It’s not like Obama is econ wizard, he has to talk to his advisors about this. And because both parties draw from the same think-tank with difference being very small, we is all fucked!
It looks like the reps will win big this time around. I wonder how quickly you will see them change all their fiscaly responsible principles and continue to enable the QE uninterrupted for years to come.

It isn’t the role of government to “save” businesses from their own stupid business plans. Too big to fail is too stupid. If they are too big, they should have been broken up years ago like Standard Oil was. I don’t see BP getting bailed out. Yes it would have a caused a sudden and temporarily critical freak-session panic in every industry. Things would readjust in a few months.

Don’t bother to respond to “Joe.” He’s the forum’s dumbest human, as he doesn’t realize Glass Steagal (repealed under Clinton) had nothing to do with the meltdown but Fannie and Freddie’s bloated acceptance of risky loans sure did.

And we all know what party the Congressmen from M-ASS-achusetts (Frank) and Connecticut (Dodd) who threw their bodies in front of any GOP attempt to reform Fan and Fred belonged to, don’t we?

I mean, we know…. but Joe apparently doesn’t, so don’t bother.

What a true evil cocsucker this jake Cunt is:

You might not be stupid but you are a blatant liar. I know that you know that you are lying and muddying the water much the same as your favorite propaganda show-fox ‘news’.

First, It was Gramm and his Nazi party that pushed for repealment of glass steagal.
Second, It was these same cocsuckers that lobbied for and enabled insane leverage. Fan and fred would have never been a problem if they were not allowed to leverage 50:1
Third, here’s a video of your furor preaching the same game as frnak and dodd.

You, CUNT, are a perfect example of someone who will “mindlessly” do anything to further ‘your’ party’s ideas. If you were born in Yemen, you’d be the first one wearing a suicide belt! Think about that for a while!

The role of the government isn’t decided by you. It’s decided by the people. And if the people want to save businesses that are too greedy–hardly stupid–it’s because they’ve been told over and over again that “nationalization” means communism. This was the best we could get from the right-wing country that we live in.

I find political theories, ideology and “how it should be” to be a colossal waste of time and energy. I shall no longer eat my heart out for a country that doesn’t have one. That said, I’m looking forward to hearing the realistic, pragmatic prose of the Honorable Fly and his distinguished and fabulous cohorts.

(Thank God for the internet, because it helps me find the last few sane people on the planet to talk to, and the last few gentlemen to associate with. If I had to watch the asshattery of “You Decide 2010” without your support, I would be forced to suck bullets out of a gun.)

Don’t count on anything changing. There will be rhetoric about cutting spending. When it comes down to it though, nobody has the balls to cut spending where it needs to be cut the most; Social Security,Medicare, Military etc… If I were Emporer, I would set spending back to year 2000 levels and give the younger generation the opportunity to opt out of the Social Security/Medicare ponzi scheme.

Face it. Devaluation is a more desireable choice than touching mom and pops welfare money.

Not desirable choice. Just politically expedient. And as much as I hate to say it, I think you should have 10 year presidential terms. Not 4 years. 4 is not long enough to accomplish things without overly reviewing them, etc.. In the present case, for example, I would not like that. But a lot of duds seem to get 8 years anyways.

2 more years of the same bullshit and maybe a third party gets real traction. Almost no one (democrat or republican) is willing to acknowledge we are a nattion in decline. It doesn’t have to be that way. Third world slaves make our consumables. We have to admit our standard of living will decline in light of this and adjust our manufacturing philosophy to reflect this. In regards to the boomers, just because you are old and sick doesn’t entitle you to care that costs more than you ever made during your working life. Also, the US cannot afford to be the sole protector of the free world. If other countries want to bask under the umbrella of freedom we provide, then they better pay up. Real fiscal conservatives need to step up. There are a lot of people in D.C. and on Wall Street that need to be indicted and tried for their crimes.

Roughly 1000 years from circa 450AD to the mid 1400’sAD. We have now had about 550-600 years of unparalleled growth for mankind. We are probably due for the plunge into darkness. If we ever get campaign finance reform they will do better for the general public than they do now. Right now, Congress folks are simply legislation salespeople, auctioning off the legislation of one’s choice to the highest paying Special Interest Group. Weird that people think it makes a difference what political party one of these legislation salespeople belongs to. Like people don’t realize their stock broker is just a salesperson trying to sell them stocks to get commissions.

Politics in America is a tragic comedy. Clueless reps elected by clueless voters, politicians are but figureheads. Democracy was invented long ago to create an illusion, an effect that each monkey amongst the hoard would be certain his biased (and consequently illogical idiotic opinion) actually meant something. Just scroll through the tabs of history, each time one party gains tenure the other takes it back, its like one of those perpetual ball toys made out of dogshit. People who do care have no idea of the apathetic majority, terrible quality macrobrew and chicken wings for all.

Congress folks have to raise an insane amount of money per day, to finance their re-election campaign. So we should not call them Senators and Reps. We should call them legislation salespeople. Because given the system we have now, they have to spend almost all their time doing that– selling Special Interest Groups the legislation that they would like passed in return for campaign donations. Why do people have the delusion that it matters what party the legislation salesperson belongs to?

WTF … No much talk about that shit on the old campaign trail..China and the rest of the world is starting to shake there heads and lock up the purse strings. This train has been heading for the cliff for a long time. Social Security , Defense and Medicare account for 80% of the budget.. Cali and New York are broke… If the Gubment dont doll out the cash. you will see the kind of revolution you speak of.. but you may not like the outcome..

2 wars and giant bailouts get you to this point… you can not argue the facts

The only chance is if by some fluke the economy starts to roll and we do grow our way out., but only if we can become a net exporter and we start to rebuild manufacturing… a tall pretty order, but a weak dollar helps that scenario..

All the fiscal choices are really unpopular if you want to be re elected…. cut spending on entitlements and raise taxes or you can try to cut taxes( trickle down) but the deficit will explode more, tough sell in the bond market… so print and push it off a few more years. Kick the Can its the American way.. so vote for you favorite can kicker.. it matters not to what party.

I agree with much of that. But I also beleive that reform is necessary, no matter how painful. That means Social Security has to be limited, and changed to an asset program, same with Medicare or any old-age insurance. These funds can no longer be honey-pot slush funds for politicians, but must be stand alone asset gathering fiduciary entities.

We will be forced to shrink gov’t and I don’t think anyone is going to like it, but without that, we will further slow our economy, and the jobs will never come back. I’m not worried about American ingenuity and your manufacturing worries. I think that if the American entreprenuer is released from his bonds, he/she will get this country growing again.

So here’s a test for you: The supreme court voted that corporations are persons. What do you think? Are corporate conglomerates “persons”?

What sort of idiocy is this? What are corporations made of? Garbage? Or people?

Get a clue, statist. Speech should not be limited in ANY sphere. What are you afraid of? It’s not like your kind doesn’t own every major broadcast network and newspaper.

You just don’t want to hear from the other side. You’ll take our taxes, but for the rest, we need to “sit in the back” right Prez’dunt O’bama?

I certainly don’t own Fox. Or any media stocks for that matter.

Nor do I own the Tribune, Sam Zell’s paper. Please, don’t waste our breath arguing that the media is liberal. They’re dumb, but they’re not liberal. The State, whether you like it or not, is the only thing that stands between you and slavery.

Corporations are not persons. They are corporations. Votes are for individuals, who get the right at the age of 18. Do corporations have to wait till they’re 18 to give money recklessly. This supreme court decision adn the flood of corrupt money it has unleashed will be the death of this country. But that doesn’t seem to bother you. Freedom is possible when it doesn’t impact the freedom of others. Buying votes is essentially short-circuiting the electoral system. But hey, ain’t nothin’ new under the sun. American history is chock full of such blatant and criminal behavior.

First off, where does it say anything in the First Amendment about “persons?” It’s says “speech.” Generally, speech is not made by robots, or garbage, or dollars or dogs, but by people. Sometimes people even contribute to a group that will help them get their views heard. What difference does it make if that group is a PAC or a corporate entity? (In fact, most PACs ARE corporate entities!)

Furthermore, Mr. Arrogance, what do you know of “giving money recklessly?” Who are you to determine what speech is reckless and what is not? Do you mind that George Soros devotes a considerable part of his fortune to political speech? Is that okay w. you, just because he’s not an eeevul corporation? (In fact, he is).

I have news for you, this country was founded on the concept that everyone could have his/her say without impeachment by the government. The Founders thought that a lot of political speech is better than a limited amount.

Why not get all the arguments out there? I’ll tell you why not, because it threatens incumbents, who then pass laws that infringe on free speech to keep their seats.

Then they convince dimwits that there is “too much speech” and it needs to be closely cosseted to protect them.

            Useful idiots, IOW.

Poor argument … An elitist attitude to presume the founding fathers envisioned GE as a mouthpiece to support a war machine via election spending. Where does it say anything about institutions, businesses or corporations under freedom of speech?

A democracy only works at all if there is an independent media, and in the US that doesn’t exist any more. The media has been completely corrupted, either by ownership that treats the media as a personal mouthpiece, or by the fear of viewers boycotting advertisers if they don’t agree with you, or by the big money special interests buying up advertising to spread their half truths.

Money has completely corrupted the democratic process, and the tragedy is that so many soldiers have died to protect democracy but the politicians have been persuaded that the freedom to disrupt democracy is more important than democracy itself.

By the way, Jake. I do agree the DEMS are morons… I just don’t care for fashion in which we run elections… I mean, it basically comes down to how many slanderous things one can say about their opponent until the people believe it.

Digging up people’s pasts and trying to find anything to nail the other is just pointless, and these our the leaders???

I want a leader that stands up for what’s right and proves it with their own actions rather than how many negatives they can point out about the other.

I tend to believe that kind of nonsense only works with very tight races. If the groundswell is for more free markets, growth etc, the people are going to pay attention to the economy more than they are the bogus mud slinging.

Just my opinion, but I recognize your distaste. I think a lot of that slinging rebounds on the slinger.
