Look At Me, I am a Stone

I am not scared of this market. I fucking own it.

I am positioned accordingly:

long TNA, EDC, ANF, ATHR, GMCR, BUCY, GLW, VXX, just to name a few. My full list of positions can be found within the confines of The PPT.

Let it be known, I am convinced the move in bonds is NOT a reaction to some sort of Hindenburg crash. Instead, I believe rates are being manipulated lower, by the cognoscenti, in order to buoy the housing markets. If they really want to give a boost to the housing market, they should lower standards to nothing at all. Loans for everyone; get your fucking share of American home pie.

Into the coming rally, I intend to release my longs and set up for September apathy.

He’s obviously referring to you you simp. Also, I doubt that he’s impressed with your patronizing “Good to hear your Jewish. Mazel tov.” …not everyone is a one-dimensional as you.

Jake, most Jews are aware of the power of the Likud-controlled Israeli lobby, so you aren’t likely to be snowing JF2.

Also, not all Jews believe the same shit – you stupid fuck. There are plenty of Jews who vocally oppose the AIPACers (J Street) …Jews who see the importance of how Israel’s behavior is perceived OUTSIDE OF THE US.

Also, when you toss around the term anti-Semite, you further display your ignorance. The brown people you love to cluster bomb in the mid-east are Semitic peoples as well.

Dumb fuck. …God I wish Fly had chosen to stifle you.

What a complete and utterly irredeemably nasty loser you are, Stormtroll.

Keep digging, as this is getting amusing.

Perhaps you can create some more sock puppets (now, conveniently “Jewish” lol!) to cover up your bigoted smear about “the Lobby” that’s secretly governing U.S. foreign relations.

Tell us again how much “power” the “Likud-controlled” AIPAC lobby has over us again?

Don’t worry, you won’t sound completely fucking nuts or anything.

Let’s just take that last bit of moon-battery as “gospel,” and move on. I’m sure there’s more, no?

What other “nuanced” analysis have you for us today, Strormtroll?

Maybe you can report on the actions of the Rothschilds or the Warburg Banking Empires in today’s depilated stoat skin markets?

All tolled, at least you make for decent comic relief as you financial contribution has been a fat goosegg.

You’ll probably blame the Joooos for that failing too, no?

      • WTF

First, there will be Russian engineering personnel on site during at least one-two month after energizing of the reactor. If Israel strikes, Russia will fuck them for attack of its citizens. How exactly it’ll be done is subject to speculations, but supply of S-300 systems would be the easiest. So, for the one, Israel would better wait with the attack.

Second, capability to turn U into Pu by the new nuclear power plant was cited by the New York Times as the reason for the air strike. That is incorrect (don’t know if it was a deliberate “mistake” or not). The reactor is NOT a breeder and cannot generate Plutonium (which, yes, is used in nukes). Uranium will just burn out by around 3% and then be returned to Russia for reprocessing and enrichment. The Russians insisted on taking it back not because it can be used for nukes (which is BS), but because it’s a very lucrative business, which they don’t want to lose to competitors.

So, from all of the above, the strike is highly unlikely. Position accordingly.

Agreed. My understanding is that as long as Iran cannot enrich the uranium, there is no conventional nuclear threat, or threat of a dirty bomb, for that matter.

U’s radioactivity is so low that it is not effective as a weapon. I’d be more concerned if terrorists got a hold of massive quantities of cesium or cobalt isotopes used in the nuclear medicine field.

          Fears are overblown.

          Get ready to rally.

Indeed it could, should it be allowed to. Russia’s strategy has always been quite simple. Where you encounter steel, you go around. Where you encounter mush, you push through it. Their moves in Georgia, Iran, and Venezuela can be viewed as areas that they consider resistance to be mush.

The truth is that an air strike isn’t really needed anymore. That’s old methodology. The Russian perception that there will be no resistance is incorrect. There are new methods of hampering rogue states from becoming a nuclear superpower. Russia will collect their money and Iran will fail in their endeavors.

          • WTF

Well, in fact they can, and increasingly so. That is the main concern. Those centrifuges which they’ve hidden all around the country are needed for that. However, Uranium for nukes must have higher degree of enrichment than for nuclear reactors. That’s why it is believed that assuming these current rates of development Iran will acquire this capability in 2-3 year time from now. However for advanced nukes they would also need Pu, which can only be obtained in “breeders”, which Iran, of course, doesn’t have.

Iranians wanted to say “fuck you” to Russians with their Russian-supplied fuel, but they had to STFU, because it is not enough to be able to enrich the fuel. It is only the first step. They must also be able to reprocess the burnt-out rods to close the loop. And they’re still apes in that. For that reason they had to allow Russia to take back the rods and supply newly loaded for a hefty fee. And this also allows to monitor actual quantity of fuel, so that Iranians wouldn’t be able to steal some it.

So, at least the argument about danger of the new reactor is a BS.

    • alphadawgg

Thanks to the Fed’s ZIRP, the yield curve cannot get any steeper without a sell off in the bond market. So, this is probably as good as it gets for the banks.

I talked with a Goldman guy today about their call last week for a 25% – 30% chance of a double dip. As bonds rally, we get a flatter yield curve, which essentially is forecasting a higher chance of a double dip recession. As the Bernanke Fed buys more treasuries, that will be a sign that the odds are increasing.

In other words, Bernanke needs to sit on his hands not try to micromanage the economy. The Fed has already done enough damage. Stop piling it on.

  13. ?Question?

Early this AM while the Fly dozed for a minute, I hot-wired the time machine and took it for a spin, then returning at the same time I left.

?Back in Weimar, how long did the economy take to go from essentially no inflation to hyperinflation?

    a) 6 hrs 9 mins & 6 seconds
    b) a week or so
    c) 2 yrs & 4 mos
    d) 6 and a half yrs
    e) none of the above

Now if I were Hugh Hendry, which I most definitely am not, I might pose such a question saying I will answer it later, and later refuse to answer it.

    Not the answer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGXYiIDTPDI&feature=related

If the monetary base is not allowed to shrink along with declining economic activity, and people begin to hoard goods and commodities because they are anticipating higher and higher costs, you have the formula for hyperinflation.

We are not at that point just yet.

Last I checked, there hasn’t been any growth to speak of in the aggregate monetary base in over the past six months. People are not hoarding goods and commodities, yet, although we do see that showing up in gold purchases and high cash balances.

If Bernanke keeps printing money like a madman, however, your point should be well taken.

Good bartering skills are a must if you think we’re on the path to hyperinflation.

Btw, Zimbabwe had inflation under control until President Robert Mugabe initiated a program of land reforms that focused on REDISTRIBUTING WEALTH by taking land from white farmers and giving those assets to black farmers. The end result was that food production and revenues from exporting food fell off a cliff.

Cause and effect? Inquiring minds would like to know.

My point is not that hyperinflation is a given or immament [sic] but that it can strike without warning in a very short of time, i.e. in a wk or 2

Side note on gold & silver, common knowledge perhaps: GLD & SLV have held prices down. How? They, like banks, only keep a small percentage of deposits/metal on hand. So most of these EFT purchases have not been used to buy metal, so physical inventories and prices have been unaffected. If there were a run to convert to metal, prices will be sent north.

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

    just sayin

Ahhhh….. Jake you rock…… Purdy means a variation on the term “pretty.” Usually used in an overly exaggerated tone, so as to suggest a lack of intelligence.

A trip to the Gulf tar soaked beaches today led me to research the Prez’s holidays:

    Date Nights:
Valentines Day he and it flew to Chicago we paid for it.
    Lavish Dinners at the W.H.
Wednesday Fun nights for his kids.. WE Paid for it.
He has flown to Paris (vacation) and had his family fly on a seperate plane<< We paid for it.
    France (Vacation)
    Camp David (Vacation)
    Golfing (Vacations)
Hawaii 3 times w/ his family again we paid.
    Grand Canyon
    Palisade Colorado
    Yellowstone Park in Wyoming,
    Montana's Glacier National Park (Vacation)
And that was all in the first 5 months.

Oh, and that trip to Germany
Britain and slept on the beach at Normandy. Who payed for that??????

    Wow…. impressive…..

All Presidents take lots of vacations. Dubya was on constant vacation his first year in office. Or so it seemed.

True… he spent some 400+ days in his house at Crawford, TX over 8 years.

I don’t think anyone would begrudge Obes & fam spending their time at Camp David or some other less “in your face” regular location.

I think it’s the economic times that make this a big deal today or no one would notice.

A little tone deaf for the guy touted for his “political instincts.”

Read somewhere that W was on vacation 75% of his time serving as Prez. If accurate then he really couldn’t have been Prez right?

“read somewhere?” Maybe you have a cite.

He spent most of his actual down time between Crawford and Camp David — both places are notable for their being completely outfitted for Presidential administrative duties, without any need for extra security, etc.,

Ie. “Cost.” No one is claiming that being Prez isn’t a 24-7 job, but that doesn’t mean you have to inconvenience others in order to get relaxed. In a time of economic duress, doing the extravagent entourage vacation thing exacerbates those issues.

My understanding was that Cheney told him … “go, go … everything here is under control, see the world, get some R&R” blah blah blah.

Sorry, too lazy to look at this wee hour … and you’d say it was some leftist site no matter where I randomly choose it from, so you can find it.

CBS (Liberal Media!) reported in 2009 that Bush had spent nearly three years at Camp David and Crawford alone … add trips to other R&R locations and world jaunts with the family to sites of interest with an occasional political meeting thrown in and he could have easily spent 6 of 8 years away from the WH. Cheney really was “in charge” no?

This is why I get so nervous knowing the leftists are in charge. To your first point, you’re wrong via simple maths (sic) analysis. The combination of days at Crawford and Camp David (again, two places which are essentially “weekend” White Houses, already outfitted for Secret Service and other administrative duty stations) was about 977 days, or 33.5% of GWB’s days as President, and not even close to 75% given HuffPo maths (sic) training.

Second, to ascribe days the President is away from the White House to days in which the Veep is forced to take over the duties of the Presidency betrays a very poor understanding of basic American Civics.

      I think I’m sensing a pattern here….

All the above said, as I’ve noted before in Obama’s defense, being POTUS is a “24-7-365” job, and I do not begrudge him his decompression time. This whole vacation issue is a matter of optics and ham-handedness, and somewhat surprising given the One’s reputation for political acuity.

I am also longed up with about 20% hedge protection. However, I am just curious at what point one would cut the cord on the shorts ($VXX, $TNA) if the market starts to really lift. It seems like I never get this part right! It seems like 109.50 (SPY) can hold we could pop, thouhgts?
