OBEY YOUR YEN MASTERS

This market is being led by the nose, based upon the whims of the Yen. Track it on your low end monitors via FXY. For the more sophisticated bunch, watch your bloomies, ever so closely.

Should the Yen go negative, I believe the market will “rock and roll” higher. With new money, I would add to tech here, as it is the strongest intra-day. Ahead of the pending, and expected, earnings shortfall from AA, investors are hesitant about adding to basic materials. Naturally, basing anything around AA is stupid; but it is what it is.

Top picks: CIEN, NVDA

A couple of buddies in the materials business have told me a number of times that they think management at AA sucks big time.

They’re pretty good at assessing shit like that, so maybe if AA comes out with a bad report it may be more indicative of a shitty management than anything else. Perhaps.

listen j, I own a private machine shop. When I need billet aluminum I buy it, end of story. Almost every piece of every size has Alcoa stamped on it. If AA’s numbers are not high then it is because of demand not poor management, they have idled half their plants for gods sake. Every man I know that also owns a machine shop buys whatever metal they need when they need it, none of us have EVER been told from our suppliers “we don’t have it” or “we are out of all aluminum because of such high demand” or some shit. it is a demand issue…..

      carry on.

AA management sucks ass. When they split the HQ between Pittsburgh and NY they jumped the shark. Nobody knows what the fuck is going on. They polluted the USA now they are doing the same to Jamaica and T&T.

The last time AA met or exceeded earnings expectations was in 1959 when it joined the DIA.
About the same time I was cheering on Luis Aparicio and Nellie Fox and the rest of the Go Go Sox to beat the Dodgers in the 1959 World Series (Dodgers won).

Right now there is a coordinated assault on the british pound, at the hands of its own government.

The old currency correlations may start to break down here.

It may be time to rely on TLT and VXX, as much as FXY.

I’d ignore tracking the FXF swiss franc , however. It has managed to decouple from everything.

Every government wants it’s currency weaker. It’s a race to see who can screw up their country, without really screwing up their country.

Treu, in a mere 500 years, the pound has gone from meaning a pound of silver to a pound of schite.

And the dollar has gone to “pound sand.”

Ill respect Bernanke again when he does 2 things

      1. Cut rates BELOW zero, where they belong. Its the only way we avoid a deflationary collapse.

      2. Encourages the SEC to shut down a certain rumor spreading blog. I wont say who it is, but it rhymes with “Xero Medge”.

Although B. may not be able to cut short term rates, he can cut long term rates by simply limiting the interest rates on, e.g., 3 year or 10 year treasuries. This would, in effect cut mortgage rates by 1-3%, no doubt they have the formula for that, and the market goes…..?

Sold the rest of the APC I purchased last week for $46.70 a share, from the $36 range. I unloaded the other half last week around $41 or $42. Still holding my intial two rounds of purchases.

Nice trade. It appears you are ahead in our Gentleman’s wager for the race between FST and APC to quarter’s end (from EOD 6/8/10), on an absolute price scale. I liked your move purchasing it again at the nadir.
