I couldn’t agree more. The Boomers are unbelievably lucky and they totally don’t know it. And with the current financial maladies going on, you can tell there is a sense on their part of “please don’t call us out on this, just let us go out on a high note.” A boomer might tell you that if you go to college, then work hard and invest in index funds, you WILL become a millionaire. They may be too busy congratulating themselves via high-fives and towel slaps to the buttocks, but theirs was a reality that had a MASSIVE tailwind built into it which made “success” so easy.
Obviously, sweeping generalizations about an age class is academically unsound.

Baby Boomers had to deal with The Cuban Missile Crisis, The Kennedy Assassination, Nixon’s Price Freeze, Watergate, Lawrence Welk, Gas Lines, Vietnam, Kent State, Nayru Jackets, 18% Interest Rates (Thnx Volcker), Jimy Carter, Liberace, Arthur Laffer & Supply Side Economics, Forced Busing, Gloria Steinem, the Pill & IUD, Abortion Rights, Watts, The Banking Crises, The Market Crash, The Tech Bubble, The Internet Bubble, Tiny Tim and Drunk Driver Roadblocks …. and you think it was easy making money through all that turmoil???

Any of you have thoughts on RIMM going into earnings next week? I was at a Verizon store this weekend and the reps there claim droids have been outselling blackberries 10 to 1. RIMM gets 83% of revenue from device sales… makes me want to short the name personally

As for the vix, its trying to crawl out of the quicksand and the more it fights the lower it goes.For the shorts there are few positives,but there are a couple : the vix hit its low for the time being on 3/19 @ 16.17 and got close to being tested 3/23 @ 16.21,so minor floor being built…As of now its doing all it can to hold on to 17.00…and any substained momentum over 17 should see declines in the market…otherwise more upside on the way
