How’s that for track record? ‘Tis the season to go long natty and oil service names. Since I have nothing to do, being all pussified in cash and treasuries, I’ve been doin’ a little studying. Based upon the laws of seasonal investing, Chesapeake Energy Corporation [[CHK]] , Weatherford International Ltd. [[WFT]] , Southwestern Energy Company [[SWN]] and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation [[APC]] are buys, from now until May. For the love of rice and mice, should this market ever pull back, I will break skulls to get long these names. I believe in them that much, as if to commit a most heinous felony.
Other than that, life is sort of on cruise control now. I am sure Mrs. Fly has a fun-filled weekend planned for me, going to malls, and little bitch ass boutique shoppes. And don’t forget, we mustn’t be late to the Whole Foods Market, Inc. [[WFMI]] sermon on Sunday. The Lord will be mad if I am tardy.

Personally, since December i’ve been of the mind that we are in “2004 Mode”. I don’t expect new highs.
That said, I won’t stay short long if we breakout. I won’t suffer that badly. I also won’t stay short that long. Probably just going to catch some 5% swings in the market since I think it will be fairly directionless.
I definitely don’t see the S&P going below 1000 this year, so I’m not that grim on the situation.
Russell 2k just broke out yesterday. Good chance you’ll see some continuation when the Russell (small caps) leads the SPX.

NG stocks suck for one reason.
Pretcher has been claiming that the market will fall in his P3 theory (which chart was busted by todays move). He has claimed the dollar will rally, the market tank, AND oil down and NG UP. many short oil companies and long NG companies had to reverse the trade. OIl up meant NG down, might not make logical sense but that is what I think has happened.
NG is also a US commodity with only about 15% coming from ouside the US. Those buying it for the commodity play are giving up. Besides NG always drops in march (check futures for 10 years out.
Problem with natty is there is so God damn much of it. New drilling / completion technologies have increased the produceable amount of NG by about a gazillion percent in the last 10 years. With natty you can’t just get an empty drum and store it like oil. Shit’s dangerous yo.
Personally I prefer independent oil and gas companies with at least 65% oil production. If a company is 80% oil then that’s better. I just don’t see NG shooting up as quick as oil. I go with independents so you don’t have to fuck around with all the downstream bullshit. Don’t know if my preference is the right one or not, but those are the companies I feel most comfortable with.
