Off to See About Something Exotic

I’m off to prepare for New Year’s festivities. I intend to buy the fanciest of things, ranging from lobsters (maine) to champagne (dom) back to caviar (beluga) etc. I will purchase said items while crowned with a golden wreathe, dressed in titanium armour [sic] and my favourite [sic] ancient fur capeline, made from mink—paired with black cowhide sandals— taken from the cow of a sitting King.

Separately, I have grande plans in store for my money in 2010, with regards to investments. I will reveal said plans, at my earliest convenience.

      BTW Fly……you can think about the steaks I am eating while you munch on that chewy Maine lobsta. My brother the butcher started aging our New Years filet mignon about 3 weeks ago. Held precisely at 34*F after being vacuum packed in their own natural juiciness. They are sliced 1-1/2″ thick from USDA choice grade Angus. I won’t bother with the detail about the King crab legs………………

      I do really enjoy this site…..and will become a distinguished guest about it in the near future.

    Should have paid more attention in culinary class, but if i remember correctly, it needs to be aged longer than 3 weeks. Bummer.

      Depends on how one like his beef. Beyond a certain point, my personal opinion is that flavor is sacrificed for the sake of tenderness. These will cut like butter and provide a high level of excitement for the palette.

    The inlaws are from Maine and we ate some of the best labstas in our travels to her parents’ this Fall. It was like the ocean was a Tommy gun with lobster rounds and we were those jerks that Capone tricked on Valentine’s Day. How are you doing it- butter-poached, lobster rolls, grilled, steamed? A little thyme is a good addition too.

    For me this will be a quiet New Years Eve as it will be the first time one or both of the kids won’t be here.
    They are now both married and live elsewhere (NYC and Birmingham) although our son will be flying in 1/2/10 for about three weeks as he is playing several golf tournaments in the Orlando area. Hopefully he can cash some nice checks.

    Actually, Super Hero Squad Edition sounds like fun.
    I hope to make it until at least 11:00 PM.

      This is the second Christmas / New Years in a row that I’ve been stuck offshore freezing my nuts off on a drilling rig. Considering I’m on duty from 06:00 – 18:00 I’ll probably be sacked out by 9:00 in the PM.

      Not too many fireworks when you’re working on a production platform producing ~400 MMscf of natty per day. Least there better not be any. That would be a bad thing.

    Played Midpines today, walked in the cold. We had a couple groups scrapped a couple birds. Looking at planning a trip to the old country this summer. Planning on flying into Dublin and hitting Royal County Down, driving up to Royal Portrush, followed by a ferry over to Scotland. From there it will be Turnberry, St.Andrews, Carnoustie, and up to Dornoch to visit the birthplace of Donald Ross. Have you ever been?

    For a pre-NYE meal tonight, I strolled into my local BJ’s wearing my usual garb (jeans & a burlap coat) and promptly tipped their scales with a 10 pound lobstah from their huge selection at $3.99/lb and with a flick of ash from my cigar … thank you very much, that was a fine meal topped off with an imported (Canadian) can of tonic!

    Tomorrow? Champognee [sic] and Chinese …. Per the misses, “No robster for you on NYE!!”
