The melt up you predicted is continuing. I expect Government policy will be a lot more market friendly in 2010 than it has been in 2009 which will allow the market to move higher much to all the naysayers disappointment.
For individual stocks, I like Cree breaking out as LEDs stay en fuego. It is also a China play.
Looking for Palm to move up after Thursday earnings. Verizon is going to add the PRE next year and I think they are going to use it to keep going after ATT and the iphone aggressively. Palm had a great 09 and could also have a strong 10.
LED is big. Keep an eye on AIXG and VECO too.
According to the laws of probability, there is a 95% chance that 2010 will be an up year, based upon previous bull markets.
on the macro side, Goldmen’s Sack went out on a limb too and suggested the Fed won’t touch rates until 2012. If the Dollar is reasonably well behaved and it should be against the other major currencies seeing that the EU is, I think, even worse shape than the US and Japan is basically a basket case, we should always remember the Fed’s two overriding objectives: Price stability and full employment. The Fed will be loathe to raise rates with unemployment so high and Goldmen’s prediction is worth entertaining.
So given the monetary side will remain awash with liquidity, it’s a pretty big decent bet that stocks will remain bid and the risk trade stays on course.
So LED lights are a great play 🙂

I am thinking of adding some AIXG…I own some VECO and bought more recently…I think it could have a big run and is a great recommendation. They seem very levered to LED televisions which have a lot of momentum, including California mandating low energy televisions in the future.
I think you are right on next year and I think that Ben Bernanke is going to do everything he can to create wealth in the stock market for many reasons including phobia of a deflation relapse and knowing if he tightens too fast he will be blamed by politicians for sinking the economy who will use it as a means to take away the Fed’s independence. Every time a bank pays back Tarp, the stakes for Bernanke get higher. We may get stimulus two but no way we get a Tarp two. He knows he must inflate.
Inflation is a problem in the long run but it will help in the short run, it will especially help banks balance sheets. Too much inflation will mean destruction of buying power, serious deflation could mean destruction of the system i.e. armor up the Escalade and buy some ammo for a trip through the vortex. Bernanke prefers the former scenario in my opinion.
