one of the best comments of the year on your blog was from Chivas on the Rocks who predicted a huge rally back in the Spring. I also give props to Fly for his comment that this will be a year to tell your grandkids about because the market will be so up. Those two comments have helped me keep a consistent long term focus for the year. I had been thinking next year might be down and we would follow the Great Depression pattern of huge up year then a new low, but then I remembered Bernanke is the expert on the GD, he knows what happened when they raised rates because the stock market ran up in the early 30s, the rate increases killed the growth. Because he knows history, I think he might be gun shy on rates. I think he is probably more afraid of deflation than inflation.
I think Ben will be thrilled to see inflation because eventually if all commodities go up so will housing which will be a salve for banks and homeowners. Never before has the world had a coordinated agenda to inflate so that is the trend I am staying with. I hope it keeps working. Happy Holidays.

X-thanks (assuming you were not being sarcastic..it is IBC) …I could be dead wrong but I truly believe that as a student of the GD he won’t do what did not work. I don’t think any of our problems have been solved, but that we are in a transition period where the problem gets converted from deflationary vortex to hyperstaglation and that there is some money to be made in the interim by riding inflation. Inflation will kill seniors but it will fix the lenders..if a lender thinks inflation is strong then they will make loans because even if the borrower is average they will feel the asset will go up due to i. where with deflation banks don’t want to lend to even the best because asset value will go lower, so Ben may think that if banks believe in inflation they will stop hoarding and start lending again. The Fed has the printing press and is working it, all the other nations know he’s running it too and they lose out to a weakened dollar so they need to try and outprint Ben so this could be the greatest printing of liquidity in history which is why I think we go much higher esp in gold which while imperfect still is a hedge on the printing.
I did not know chivas went short…thought he was on his G2 over to Europe for the rest of 09. I guess I was lucky to read the post that worked. Good luck.
