On the top of my list, for possible takeover plays, are ADTRAN, Inc. [[ADTN]] , Ceragon Networks Ltd. [[CRNT]] , TEKELEC [[TKLC]] and Akamai Technologies, Inc. [[AKAM]] . It’s also worth noting, the Cisco Systems, Inc. [[CSCO]] for Starent Networks Corp. [[STAR]] deal is for $35 cash. With the stock trading a touch below $34, coupled with the prospect of a competing bid, STAR may be a buy, right here.
Finally, most of my positions did well today, putting my year to date gains over 80%. Over the next few days, I will be taking some profits, on a variety of names. In my experience, it always makes sense to sell when there is an abundance of buyers. My target cash position is somewhere north of 30%.

Despite the fact that you all have decided to lock up large sums of money based upon little more than what you read on my blog, I feel it important to maintain a clear line of communication about my strategies at all times. Some of you have written or called to inquire into my less than 20% invested strategy that I have purported to maintain for several weeks. You correctly surmise that you could hire your mother to keep your money in cash and wonder what this level of indecision says about my ability. Frankly, now that you are locked in for the next 10 years I can admit that my system is based on little more than fading the resistance lines my sophomoric software systems spit out and letting my stops trigger. I’ve never managed this much money so my inexperience trading is really rearing it’s ugly head now, who knew it was so hard to manage hundreds of positions when they are bigger than $10k. I’m pretty good at math so I quickly calculated that if I only invest less than 20% at a time your money will last for ten years exactly. Unfortunately I don’t really have a grasp of anything fundamental and my general instinct is to doubt concrete metrics and instead rely solely on my instinct that the worst is always just around the corner. As my strategy changes in the coming months I will again update you as appropriate.

That 129,[email protected] is not only the only trade at that price, it’s marked one minute after the close of the after-hours session. It’s the AH equivalent of those trades that you see marked 16:00:01 when the bell rings.

While an ‘estimate beat’ was expected, I think the magnitude has surprised even the optimists.
I know the mood at the local ‘branch’ was ‘exuberant’.

The dollar amount varies depending on my convictions of the move.
Anywhere between 35-60% of my $$. SMH is very liquid and shortable.
I try to average 1.5-2% a week with it.
It’s not a mo mo stock but at that weekly rate it’s a nice yearly gain (especially compounding the gains). Dull is good (for me).
No stops. Just use my eyes and head (and hopefully any Alzheimer’s will be delayed).
I have always been a big fan of the Gil Blake method (see Market Wizards book).
Always looking for the non-random action in stocks and I don’t care whether its a bull or a bear, just how the stock acts relative to the general market.
