I have to meet with a general contractor, so that he can rip me off on a variety of small jobs. In case you were panicked with consternation, the rumors of “The Fly” being THE LARRY KUDLOW OF THE INTERNET are false. Although, it’s worth noting, I am quite fond of mustard seeds and green shoots.
One thing of note: PBG guided up. This is very important, with regards to the economic cycle. It is a fact, beverage consumption correlates with national wealth. When times are good, people drink more soda pop. However, when times are “Africa tough,” most people resort to drinking rusty tap water or nothing at all.
Within the beverage space, The PPT favors CCH, COT, JSDA, PAS, KO, KOF, DPS, PBG, PEP, LWAY and WBD.
Off to see about a rip off.

Or maybe this summer has been hotter than usual and people just need to drink more soda.It was 100F every freakin day of May in Phoenix. I think I drank an average of 8 Coke Zeros everyday.
Not to mentioned when times are bad, people treat themselves to the small luxuries of life. Like $0.50 soda.
Chocolate sales increase during recessions. Fact.
I <3 Dr. Pepper
Fly. I hope there won’t be alot of noise coming from your home improvement job because I like to catch an afternoon nap before One Life To Live and Oprah.
It is hard work being unemployed.
Get your DRANK on. RC favors IBGH.
coke zero with a big mac: fucking hypocrites.
It is a fact, beverage consumption correlates with national wealth. When times are good, people drink more soda pop. However, when times are “Africa tough,” most people resort to drinking rusty tap water or nothing at all…
Any way the wind blows, eh Fly? Last year you argued the opposite.
“The Fly Says:
coke zero with a big mac: fucking hypocrites.”
you guys crack me up…
thanks for that.
Too bad McDonalds still doesn’t sell the McLean burger.
You can have three or four of those with the Coke Zero and it would be the equivalent of one McRib.
3b
that’s a bold faced lie. I always contended that beverage consumption correlated with economic conditions. It is the reason I stopped buying HANS.
Fuck off, clown nose.
Liar. Whatever.
Fuck you, liar.
Liar, liar asshat on fire.
3B – validate your accusation or be quiet.
Though, “liar liar asshat on fire” reminds me of schooldays.
yikes
fly – i will share that with my 9-yr-old. again fly proves he’s god.

Howabout their own urine?
Seriously, your anachronistic sensibilities aside, there is no one better at this comedy stock game.

Off to see a man about a horse.
Fly, did you buy a new car?
not that I care, but if you did, what did you get? sports car, family car, mini van for the wife? or other.
also, this Dick Bove guy, is this dicktard still employeed? what a fucking moron he is……..
Anyone know why TIVO is popping in AH?
Cuervos, I tried digging through the archives but I couldn’t find the quote I was looking for. To be fair I have heard Fly call KO and PEP “luxury” items, but also “defensive” in a snotty way when I suggested they might be over-valued at one point a year or two ago. I retract my “liar” quip until I have the bona fides to back it up.
TIVO won court decision on patent.
Dick Bove’s reappearance would normally spell doom on its own, but the “Bove sentence” must now be reinforced by 15 minutes of Meredith Whitney.
Cap, .50 for a soda? Maybe in Shitville, Miss . Are you paying $1.00 for cigarettes and $.75 for a movie to . Phoenix average price is $.65 if you can find a can. Btls $1.65 . And no matter what PEP says now, these numbers are seasonal. Right now everybody is hanging on by their fingernails. Hard to believe soft drink sales are up. They are cutting costs and working their people like slaves, that I believe.
Fly lives in a castle high upon the hill, and dreams of what the economy is like for the serfs down below. Ahh Pepsi says sales up, things must be good down below!!! Not.
Street.com vs. CTIC
With any luck, this will get much, much uglier.
FLY
Bought PCU @18 sold and sold some today at 23ish. What is your take on when I should move out out of this play?
Fly, Nice work lately. Any thoughts on the probability of a melt-up this quarter due to guys underweight equities trying to play catch-up?
“Drink your own Urine!?!”
I thought that Was coke ZERO…?
AND What the HELL is a Mc Lean?…..was that some kind of snipe?
RE CTIC – Actually read the published report (I’m qualified to interpret it) – the Street guy is a putz – and (purposely) ignored the big picture. Bottom line is the drug shows serious salvage potential for very sick patients. While I closed out and took massive IBC style profits end of day yesterday like my daddy taught me, I bought a half position at 1.83 this morning for another crack at it…we’ll see.
I’m killing it so bad I just pour luxury drinks out for fun. Buy em’ and pour ’em. You know, for my homies.
bill z, for a physician you spend an awful amount of time plugged to the net. you retired? (i hope for your patient’s sakes 🙂
trader a – nah not retired (according to my 87 year old farmer father I’m not allowed too) but I haven’t practiced in almost 10 years. I swapped out practicing for running a medical software business so I’ve got computers around me all the time.
z.
Ah, that explains it. Nice trading those bio stocks.
I guess also having my dumb unmanaged IRA halved twice in a decade also “perked” my interest in the market. Found CA through another website last fall (after a massive puke down in the market) and started on a serious learning campaign and experience. Just sick of seeing the IRA melt away. I started “active” management in January and I must say, thanks to much of what I’ve learned here with a little balance from a blogger named randomrodger I’m pretty much all the way back – thanks to fly, CA, RC and Jake.
Wow, nicely done Bill.
A couple a years ago, Fly did indeed say what he says he said, which is that beverage companies are good tells for the economy.
http://flyonwallstreet.blogspot.com/2007/11/stocks-are-for-jerks.html
“Generally, beverage companies are good tells on a nations economy.”
You know, looking back at that old site is like renting the original Simpson’s episodes from the old Tracy Ullman Show — still funny as shit, but so damn primitive!

Doc Z — I want to hear more about this medical software biz. All of a sudden I’ve got PE guys up the ass looking to buy medical software, processing, etc, etc…

LOFL! I just scrolled down all the way to the bottom and I noted the embedded “Fly poll” question:
Should I shitcan Ducati again?
Ah, those were more innocent times…

Jake, you mean to say that you could be a beneficiary of the O’Bama initiative to automate the health care industry? Odd, no?
You’ll owe him big time after the market retracement and profiteering from his liberal democratic tax and spend socialist politics … ahhh, politics makes for strange bedfellows.
Don’t turn down the business cause it’s in conflict with your political views. Just join the dems or at least make a contribution to the party in thanks … ROFL!
Jake, you mean to say that you could be a beneficiary of the O’Bama initiative to automate the health care industry? Odd, no?
What’s odd is that anyone could be so naive to think the medical industry needs some statist community organizer to tell it needs to automate itself, not to mention the agile innovators of this country who have been battling with statist meddling in health care since the Roosevelt era.
Liberals, just freaking living in a dream world.

Tells me you know a lot about this narrow sector! From what I’ve personally observed over the last 15 years intimately involved with this, I believe various actions of the gov’t over the last few admins have set this timetable back a decade – compared to where it was going on it’s own – incredibly limited the options of physician clients, and ultimately raised the cost of the transition by magnitudes.
