I’m feeling RFMD and ENTR right here, right now. RFMD is a straight up chips in handsets play. But ENTR is special. If they execute their business plan flawlessly, the stock will be multiples higher than where it trades today. Their technology is the next evolutionary step in the development of the digital set top box. So you know, they are presenting at a JMP Securities conference today. Listen to the webcast here.
Also, I am a big fan of oil here. The set up is pretty insane and I think the small cap oils are readying to BTFO. Within the space, I like ERX, FTK, SU and maybe a little WRES.
Finally, should STAR continue to dip, I want to get long the name, especially since they own the CDMA core router market. And, by the way, CUZ,, ATHR, NGD and TWI are noteworthy too.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says a new public-private partnership to help banks shed their bad assets will begin operating in the next six weeks.
The program would combine up to $100 billion in government funds with private investments in hopes of building a purchasing pool of up to $1 trillion.
Bank lending has in part been hindered by the amount of real estate-related loans and securities on their balance sheets. Treasury has received applications from more than 100 potential fund managers to help run the program. Geithner says Treasury will inform applicants of their preliminary approval in the “next several weeks.”
The program was announced March 23 and some lawmakers have questioned why the program is not yet up and running.
A lot of cash being raised via sales here. I don’t know what is about to happen but we could see a sharp move to 930 soon unless we fail hard. Oil is now too overbought for me to initiate new positions. I am moving on to UNG buys at 15 should it hit. If gasoline continues the consumer is going to be gunsmoked and will take their anger out on retailers and bullshit products again.

Zen, Why does it matter who is buying the secondaries? The only think that matters is that they are placed successfully.
While I was buying the preferreds at $.20 on the dollar, there were guys on CNBC blubbering that it was a suckers bet, and that hedgies were shorting the preferreds. Well, either BAC can pay me or convert me. I don’t care. Either way it’s a win, although it was very scary to put the trade on when everyone is telling you it’s nuts.
Bottom line, these guys are borrowing at zero % and lending at whatever, and they are making money over time.

For more leverage on that trend, go with Westport Innovations (WPRT, WPT.TO). They are the ones who developed the equipment and technology to run big engines on nat gas, and are partners with Cummins in Cummins Westport. Westport is pretty much a pure play on trucks and buses moving from diesel to natural gas.

I’m still expecting a long drag down as consumers and our nation deleverage. My interpretation of the dshort chart is that we have mostly recovered from the biq liquidity scare beginning in the Fall, and that we are ready to resume the bigger and slower deleveraging decline.
Meanwhile, the liquidity scare is only in hibernation, with much of the risk moved from the financial industry to the taxpayers. That makes a blowout crisis much less likely, but the pressure will still have to leak out over time in ways that aren’t helpful to the economy, including: higher taxes, reduced services, inflation, and higher interest rates.

And the future cuts just got worse for the California municipal transit districts (MTDs). What are you gonna do with a state where it is easier to add clauses to the Constitution than it is to pass a state budget? For the record, I didn’t vote on any of the POS propositions on the ballot yesterday.
Back to the subject, my understanding is that MTDs rely mostly on Federal dollars for capital spending and state/local dollars for operations. So, I expect that there will be plenty of money to buy buses and MTDs too poor to take full advantage of the funds available.
Either way, the municipal bus market in the US is too small to be a reason to buy either Westport or Cummins. They need to break into trucks in a big way (they are nibbling at niche markets, and will find it hard to expand into the bulk of the market without regulatory help), or they need more of this:

Ottnott: I really like their cash position. I am going to start a small position 700 @ 5.23. My biggest concerns were emissions and from the report I just finished they beat requirements which is key after yesterdays throat slashing from the messiah. This position will replace my FTK play over time. Like I said before I really really like this space and have a couple of friends in the NatGas industry who are saying it has to come soon. Just one more point on the NatGas engines, Deere stopped making them so Cummins is the only name in the space now. Here is a comment from an article:
The CNG buses have been a hit in Knight’s fleet, because of their clean operation and their durability. The first two CNG buses added to the fleet are still going strong with “well over” 150,000 miles on each, and when asked about the life expectancies of the engines, all Knight can say is that they haven’t hit it yet. The John Deere CNG engines run so clean, Knight’s technicians only change their oil once a year–and that’s overkill, according to John Deere, which recommends draining the oil every other year.
“We dump it every year just to be safe, and that oil comes out just as clean as it was when it went in–you cannot tell the difference between the new and the old,” Knight says.
Only two minor events have spoiled the CNG campaign: John Deere discontinued the engine that Knight had grown to love, and the local Air Quality Board stopped giving away bushel baskets of money.
Also of note is that the report I read on Cummins/WPRT is that their engines produce around 570HP versus the 250HP that Deere produced. This allows them to be put into long haul trucks which is where the gravy is at.
