Everyone knows that the Labor Dept.’s numbers are BS. The real unemployment rate is probably somewhere around 14%.
To me it is scary to watch everyone in Washington act like they have saved the country and that the worst is behind us. By the looks of it, it does seem that they have fooled a lot of people.
Looking into the numbers, once again we see thast government created the most jobs, I think it was something like 72k. However, 56k of those jobs were created by the census, ha ha!
The fact is that more people are unemployed than ever before, and more companies are planning to layoff. What is even worse is that many people who have been unemployed for quite sometime are finding out that their unemployment benefits are expiring. What will these people do?
IMO there are more foreclosures to come, more defaults on car loans, credit cards, student loans etc.
But people think everything has been fixed in the banking sector and continue to bid banks up on the back of some bullshit stress test. Watch out all of you banking bulls, the hammer will be dropped again.

I would like to see the market correct 50% of the march move myself but what you people don’t get is that you have to trade the market you have and not the one you want. What you have lost on the way up short cannot be made up on the way down if we were to get any pullbacks ever again.

In what ways are you seeing zirp and QE starting to work? The 10-yr treasury is back up to where it was before QE started. Refi applications are up, but closings are not and foreclosures go through the roof everytime a moratorium ends. No disrespect, but I just wonder what metric you’re looking at beside the action in equities.

1. I would expect the 10 year to go up and in fact I would expect it to go even higher from here. A steeper yield curve would actually be a confirmation of that.
2. Refi’s going up are actually a great thing.
3. I wouldn’t expect closings to rise until mid to late summer.
4. Foreclosures are actually the last cab off the rank. By the time a home has reached foreclosure the bank has already made provision for the loss.

Credit markets are actually thawing out. In case you missed it today morgan stanley issued 3.5 billion is stock. It was over subscribed at 24 bucks and the raised the amount from the original $ 2 billion.
They have also had an issue of 5 year bonds that weren’t guaranteed by the FDIC oversubscribed.
The money markets are slowly beginning to work.
And yes QE is helping the enormous tanker do a U turn.
If the long end continues higher we are going to have a fucking mess on our hands. I am with Chivas on this and on that.
While we’re at it, kick anyone in the nuts that talks about “liquidity.”

I believe those numbers you’re seeing that spook you and spook all of us are not going to sound that big over the next decade or so as inflation will be running at around 15% a year. We won’t see that in the CPI etc. however we will feel it in other ways.
Those large numbers will be commonly spoken about over the next decade and before the next 20 years we will see the first trillionaire make his or her appearance.
It’s all just currency debasement. The Fed will accommodate all of the governments needs through currency debasement.
