Barring a late day collapse, “The Fly” will close out the week up more than 10%. For the year, my gains stand north of 24% and I am cooler than you, in many, many ways.
Sometime soon, the market will stall and people will regret being long. A few names worth shooting down are [[MET]] and [[PACW]]. If you are playing with SRS/FAZ, you are dealing with Deacons of Death. You’re better off throwing yourself into a lit fireplace, than fuck around with those etf’s.
With my money, I like [[ALU]], [[ODP]], [[TBSI]], [[CRR]] and [[CECO]] here, amongst many others. There is a real story to be told about Alcatel Lucent, with regards to their Chinese exposure and their role as key supplier in the worldwide LTE rollout. The one caveat: underfunded pension. If the market continues north, the pension matter will resolve itself. If not, oh well, they’re fucked.
Currently, I am long a lot of offal. I think the small crappers can run for a few more days. After that, get the fuck out, because the bottom will vanish. The small cap gambling has gotten so severe, I am thinking about buying [[MRVC]]. Someone slap me.
NOTE: I sold out of my [[AMKR]] position today, for a 20% win.

I moved from 80% long to 33% long today. This expansion of the rally to very the worst-of-breed, sub-$5 crap names points to a rally that is in its final stages (at least in the short-term). I’m not going to try to catch the exact top…but it feels like it could come anyday now. I’m looking for a correction or at least some consolidation in the indices for a while (at least for a few weeks). Mr. Market has been extremely lenient when it has come to earnings reports so far where even slight misses are rewarded. But I expect that sentiment to change with the coming weeks. Also, although they will surely be sugar-coated, the stress test results could also put a sobering chill on things.

so I will through all of the charts and “past market scenarios” out the fucking window and say the government will not let the market go down until the DOW hits 10000 again. it will go down in history as the most amazing rally since 1896.
admit it, there is nothing going to stop this bitch. those guys in black suits in the dark abandoned warehouse using black op funds are going to buy stocks and prop this bitch up until thaey are told to vacate and abort.

In normal times, a liquidity flood like we’ve been having lifts the market right up.
These aren’t normal times. That liquidity is trapped in the banks, trying to prevent spontaneous combustion in the $4-trillion pile of manure on their balance sheets.
Meanwhile, out in the real economy, life sucks and is getting worse. July 1 is when a new fiscal year starts in many states. Whatever emergency cuts they made in the current fiscal year will be dwarfed by the new cuts. Early steps like hiring freezes are giving way to job cuts for the unlucky and salary or work-hour reductions for the survivors. Are we expecting all these people to run to the banks to take on more debt to spend at the malls?
The funny money can lift the financials and the other beneficiaries of the bailouts. Shares of insolvent financials have stopped heading to their real market value of $0.00 and have started partying nonstop. The rest of the market will still have to generate earnings through the old fashioned method of convincing people to buy their products. They won’t have the revenue and profits to support higher share prices.
Take a look at the utility index, for example. Utility shares joined in on the bounce from the lows for the first 2 weeks. For the past 4 weeks, they have been flat. With their massive debt loads, utilities love liquidity. Cheap and easy money brought huge gains to utility shares from 2002 through 2007, but isn’t doing anything for them now.

The liquidity will break through the dam wall at some stage an it will be sooner rather than later. If the current amount the Fed is pushing doesn’t work, they’ll do more and more until it finally gets breaks.

Here in our town, existing houses are selling like hotcakes…However, buliders can’t compete with existing house prices because new material cost has gone through the roof. If the goverment could fix the inflation prices on building materials, it could help jump start new housing. 2007 we had 800 permits pulled, in 2008 400, and this year 2009, 27. So new construction has almost virtually stopped, and has put alot of folks out of work.
Either home prices need to come up, or new material cost needs to come down, This seems to be the pinch at the moment.
That’s why I like this goverment..whenever you need anything they are eager to throw money at ya 🙂
