Well, any other day, I’d agree with you. However, before a secondary is issued the lead bookrunner themselves will be shorting the issue — heavily — in order to accomodate the market making that must take place when that much new stock is brought to the market place.
Do you see how it might be different than any “regular” trading day for GS?
In the case of this issue, which is 5mm shares at something like $125- $128 per share… $7.7 mm of negative outflow is only about 6100 shares equivalent of that five million coming tomorrow.
Do you see how little that is? That’s why I’d actually posit that that small an amount indicates that there’s a lot of demand out there for GS, whether we like it or not.
I’ve been hearing stuff like this is the bottom not the top for the financials. Sorry, I don’t buy it.
