On the stock market….a great FT article (and chart) the other day demonstrated that due to the 46% selloff in the S&P 500, we have now come down to almost the exact historical 10-year trailing price to earnings multiple going back to 1900, which would mean we’re fair valued. However, if the past is any indication, when we’re heading into a significant recession, we pay much less for earnings. If we drop to 7-8 times trailing 10 year earnings on the S&P, then the index would fall to around 600, from 850 today…..another 30%.
This is not over, 850 will not hold on the S&P. Get short or get out.
