I just finished reading this crap, and I am appalled. Clearly, this fucker is talking his book, being short [[MVIS]] and all. What makes this article criminal, is the scurrilous rumors he is perpetrating on a low volume, micro-cap stock.
As some of you know, last year MVIS was “The Fly’s” largest position. I made lots of money in the name and, eventually, gave a lot of the gains back. Nonetheless, I have always found the CEO, Alexander Tokman, to be honest and responsible.
This hedge fund manager who says MVIS gave away the Pico projector market to TI is full of shit.
First of all, the big market is not for a stand alone projector, but embedded. Also, Microvision’s technology is far superior to TI’s. While it’s true, at some point this year, MVIS will probably need to raise capital. It’s also true, they will have no problem doing it.
As a matter of fact, I like the stock here, under $3, and will begin buying some. If you recall, when I got out of the stock, in late ’07, I said I’d get back in late ’08, or when the stock represented a decent value. At these levels, I believe the stock can bounce.
Bottom line: MVIS is a highly speculative play, with a rough balance sheet and has fierce competition. However, it is my belief, their technology in the cellphone projector space is dominant to TI’s and worth a shot, considering how big the market is.
Remember, there is no fucking way TI can put that LED crap inside a cellphone, without melting that fucker down. Lasers are the way to go.
NOTE: A colleague of mine spoke with the company and they feel the Seeking Alpha article is a “deliberate and malicious attack by a short seller.”
UPDATE: I just got a note: A special MVIS shareholder conference has been scheduled for 1pm eastern.
UPDATE II: The conference was sponsored by a banker, not the company. It went well. Basically, it was a fireside chat amongst shareholders, with a few bullet points with regards to how retarded the Seeking Alpha guy is. In addition, he mentioned the possibility of seeing several volume orders, prior to year end.
Bottom line: I like the stock here, under $3.

This is why Seeking Alpha can be full of pitfalls for the average investor. So many articles are just people talking up their book.
I trust the guys at IBC far more, that and a good chart, some real research and I can make a better, more informed decision.

As I mentioned the other day, the one name that bothers me the most is General Motors (GM).
It has huge amounts of unsold inventory, a business mix that is, well, not what it used to be, and it’s about to face a wave of SUV’s being sent its way as leases expire.
Judging by the way that GM’s debt trades (preferreds now in the 14% range), I don’t see how it can finance its way out of this mess.
And considering how many people are employed there, this company is facing the Perfect Storm. And I have no idea how GM can make it through it. Unlike SunTrust (STI), that despite being stubborn about its dividend, at least has the KO stock to sell. What does GM have? Squat.
I really think this is the biggest shoe of all, and the bad part is that I don’t here much chatter about it, like I do Lehman Brothers (LEH). That’s what bothers me.
Good Post Juice, wait and watch GM verge on BQ and then sell the company to an overseas buyer and bust the union in the face while they are it.

The hit to residual values on those SUVs at the end of a lease must be enormous.
Crazy as it sounds, the optimal profitability path would probably be to stop producing SUVs today and spend the next few years selling pre-leased vehicles with a factory warranty.
People pay waaay too much for used cars with a solid warranty. Last time I was out car buying (small car, modest price), I could get new cars with a price just $0-400 higher than “certified” used vehicles with 1-2 years and 15-25k miles of use.
You just earned (a few) more karmic freebies.

OT from MVIS, MSFT got rejected by YHOO a week or so ago. Will the jilted company start looking for another match? MSFT has a ton of cash at a time when cash is king. Missing out on YHOO may not have been the worst thing to happen. Worst thing would have been overbidding and then failing at the integration process. SYMC got a bad rep for being an acquirer without a plan. Does MSFT have a plan? Or are they in the mindset of gotta do something even something stupid?
