The cost of a solar system for a normal sized 3 bedroom house (approximately 2500 sq ft using 300 KWh/month) is $17,000 without batteries or installation or shipping.
Batteries are right at $6000 for 16 375aH batteries before shipping or tax.
Now say your like me and hate fucking unions or laborers other than Mexican’s (they don’t do solar shit) and decide to do it yourself your total cost is $23,000 without shipping or taxes or any other bullshit tools or shit you need which will cost you around $3000 more.
Your looking at a total $26,000 without paying someone, should you pay someone your gonna pay around $10k more. Keep in mind you will need to service and replace the batteries every so often so you better learn how to maintain the shit or you will pay a ton for labor.
The average electric bill runs around $150 per month give or take some based on how many bullshit toys you have. Keep in mind the average U.S. household used 10,654 kWh a year in 2001, or 888 kWh/mo so your already double your solar system. That comes to $1800 per year and your limited to only what your base system will fucking push out. That means it will take you fucking 14.44 years to pay for this shit in electric bills if you do all of the shit yourself and your batteries magically last forever. Ain’t happnin. So before you and your wife watch some gay show or listen to some gay idiots talking about solar shit make sure you can afford to walk your talk, it ain’t all gay green roses.
Note: After looking again I think you will need three of these systems to be fully sustainable and off the grid based on the Department of Energy numbers so your fucked big time.
