You must be as bored as I am. Nice post.
Not a chance Fly. I win!!! I almost bottomed out my luxury automobile on the freeway while driving my Krugs and Silver Eagles from my pm dealer a couple years ago. True story! I had to replace my shocks.
On the homepage, you can’t see the last word of this post until you actually click into it. I thought for sure that it was going to read:
“The Fly†has more gold than you. Much [to your chagrin.]
The Fly:
Don’t you realize that having too much gold makes you look like a fool? Forget about gold and silver, platinum and palladium is what you want to own. I own tellurium also.
PAL and SWC are the only stocks you need to own nowadays. You are just too stupid to learn.
http://www.apmex.com/
I am beginning to regret that I did not put 100% of my 401K into PAL and SWC. I only put in 95%. There is still 5% there that is doing absolutely nothing, while PAL and SWC flies. Good news is that 5% is now only 3% and will soon become just 2% and 1%.
please go away JJ
Fly,
What’s your opinion on MOT or MVIS if an embedded product is ever produced?
AppleInsider reports that Google has seen 50 times more search requests coming from Apple iPhones than any other mobile handset.

Doubtful.
Silver eagles sell at a premium. You want 100 oz. bars for your silver.
Krugs are not .999 pure, (something like .92)… you want Maples leafs, or pandas if you can stomach the premiums.
Jake has maple leafs cause he likes Queen Liz.
I know that futures are typically manipulated on holidays when they trade and equities do no trade; however, fuckers are unusually lively today. Overseas stocks rose, Qatar infusing money into banks, etc. Will be interesting to see if this holds into the open Tuesday. Naz futures up 32, Rus +9, and S&P +16.
Fly is long gold?
jake-if you were advising me to buy precious metals, what would you rec? and where to get it?

You are welcome.
Helicopter Ben wins again.
Boom,
I picked up most of my PM’s back in the 2002-03 timeframe. Aside from GLD and SLV (which I rec for liquidity reasons, and think the conspiracy theorists are overboard with their attitude towards them), there is also Canada’s CEF, which I owned before the advent of GLD and SLV. CEF claims to be the “one true bullion fund,” but it’s gold and silver together, and that’s the reason I like it.
As for buying straight bullion, I bought a lot of my stuff locally here — be careful about sales tax however, which may be steep in TN.
Gary Savage over at “The Smart Money Tracker” recommends both golddealer.com, which is the website for California Numismatic Exchange, and Merit Financial for online buys.
Next time you are in LA, you can stop by both. Merit’s in Santa Monica!
Here’s an interesting piece on a special gold coin which a lot of gold bugs love… The U.S. $20 St. Gaudens Gold Piece.
If “Fly” is for real in his above comments, he has several in his vault.
KC Bill… latest Rob Rang mock at NFLdraftScout.com has da Chiefs getting Jake Long.
That would be their best pick in a decade, IMHO:
Link to Rang’s Mock Draft.
Fuck you , King Midas.
Jake- I hope Ryan is available…we need to throw the bones on a QB. Thats the only position that matters….High School, College, NFL.
Asshattery at its Finest
Fly, is there a way I can block JJ? He bugs the world with his non-stop pumping of the same garbage.
Jake,
I would rather own Silver Eagles long term as the US will most likely stop minting them as the cost becomes too high. This will creat a premium $20+ imo. They have exhausted their longstanding silver inventory and are buying from the secondary market. I own a wide variety of gold coins. My grandfather actually started minting his own greek coins out of Silver and Gold using a reciprocating injection molding machine back in the 60s. I have a pristine collection of Indian Heads circa 1907-1933. If you are worried about the spread, then of course you would buy Phils. Not for me.
Pre-1933 Phils are good if you think this country is heading straight to hell.
Remember, they confiscated gold in 1933 and then raised the price 75% the following day. A repeat would not be good for GLD holders like myself.

KC — amazingly, Ryan may not be available at #5. I find that hard to believe, because I just don’t see that much difference between him and Brian Brohm, who I see going in the high teens, low twenties.
I think if you all have your heart set on a QB, you ought to trade #5 for and extra first rounder, and take Brohm and someone else for your troubles.
Oh yeah, and although I feel your pain on the licenses, you gotta suck it up and pay the freight or you’ll be kicking yourself down the road if da Chiefs ever get better again.
Damned monopoly pricing!
Sierra — A numismatist, good for you!
I wish I had kept up with my coin collection that my uncle started for me as a kid. I had a lot of silver in that collection… I think it’s all still at home as well.
My comment on the Eagles was really just nuisance based. Due to the relative inexpensiveness of silver in comparison to gold, I just don’t know if it’s worth the hassle to buy coins at all. But if you’re a collector, that’s a different deal.
The Fly has asked me personally to change the headline to this blog, he is too embarrassed to do it himself, what he really meant to say is:
“THE FLY HAS MORE GOLD IN HIS TEETH THAN YOU.”
I bought a bucketful of Morgan Dollars (MS-65 and better) and have $5, $10 and $20 gold coins, including a couple of $20 St Gaudens pieces in MS-65.
Bought when silver was a little over $4 and gold around $325.
Also have a rare U.S. coin collection that I’m thinking of auctioning off. Some of my pieces go back to 1810 (silver half dollars).
While I’m on the subject of a major socio-economic collapse, I still think a cache of food is essential. If the transportation system comes to a grinding halt, there is, at the most, three days of food in the grocery stores. That’s assuming there isn’t a “run” on the store.
Don’t forget water either. You should have water stored anyway in case of a major flood, unless you like drinking water contaminated by the sewer.
Some whiskey and smokes are good barter goods as an alternative to gold.
For your future apocalypse du jour, a shotgun and a pistol in 9 mm or a larger caliber, is a must for home defense, at a minimum. Gets yours.
Don’t forget to practice.

Lindsay Lohan is fucking ugly.
My PAL 7.5 March calls that I am already up 40% on are looking really sexy for tuesday.
Santa,
Not so ugly, but the freckles aren’t working with the blonde wig, that’s fer sure.
Jake,
I hear ya, it can be a major hassle buying Silver coins at any significant qty. You practically have to hire a brinks truck for $20k.
Good luck to you!
I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have a sizable horde of food and drinking water.
If I ever need it I will wish I had a horde of bullets because I will most likely get shot before I eat the last of it.

Disgusting.
No sleep tonight for me. My son just called from an NCAA college tournament in Texas and he is five under after two rounds with a two stroke lead going into the final round tomorrow. Last time this happened I stayed up all night watching infomercials and reruns of Gomer Pyle.

Futures flying on the heels of yesterday’s Euro Markets’ performances. Let me just state that only a few “homegamers” are trading contracts on a holiday like today, so discern much from it, would be just plain ludicrous.
