Wow. Did you see that desperate push by the bulls in the last 5 minutes of trade?

The Dow was well on its way to getting raped; then a very suspicious late day buy program pushed the Dow well into the green.

Tech got smoked, led by [[AAPL]] and [[RIMM]].

Despite the melt up, I made money in [[SMN]], [[REW]] and my [[LEH]] short. For a minute, it looked like [[SKF]] was going green. But, as you know, the suspicious late day rally nixed that, rather quickly.

All in all, today was a perfect up day for the bears, as volume remains unimpressive and negative headline risk is pervasive.

Look for the curtains to drop on [[MBI]] and [[ABK]] shortly.

Top pick: SKF

It looked like a testosterone induced battle of the big swinging dicks. From 3:20 til 3:40, somebody was pounding the fuck out of stocks.

Then in the last 20 minutes someone with an even bigger dick and hairier balls decided he’d seen enough and stepped in.

Tomorrow is the retail numbers…Suppose to be one of the worse in 5 years. Who the fuck would dare go long?

I do think we have discounted a mild recession, but nowhere near a “consumer” lead recession, which tend to be the more severe ones. More pain to come? I think so…

Jake count me in too…that cocksucker losing his job is the minimum of required first steps.

How could you be so verbally abusive to a kid who, literally, did nothing?

He should be banned from any enforcement, even rent-a-cop, for life.

$4.25 an hour bitch…what a lot in life.

I’m not exaggerating when I say I hope that cop is killed on duty or otherwise removed from the earth.

If I lived in 19th century Yuma, I would find him on my horse and personally deliver the bullet.

I dunno, but if I were those kids’ parents, I’d make it my mission to make sure that asshole never carried a badge again. And I’ve got cops all over my family tree. They don’t need this asshole in the “fraternity” believe me.

It’s pretty obvious that Baltimore doesn’t do a very good job of psychologically profiling it’s recruits.

    Danny,

Last week, in a town I know well, two on-duty cops were executed by a self-important asshole who thought his beef with the city council entitled him to kill good people.

If you want to see the face-of-hell horror that cop-killing brings to a good town, read up on it.

I know: blogs are where we can say the outrageous, and IBC more so than most.

But some things are forever off limits.

    spaulding,

killing cops = bad. That much should be obvious. Since that video really pissed me off, I was being a little emotional, which of course is hilarious since I claimed “I wasn’t exaggerating.”

I still think if I lived in a movie (3:10 to Yuma), I would dispatch him at high noon and it would probably make for an excellent scene.

    It was a different time.

    Jake – agreed.

BO17 – I get harassed for rolling around on a plank. I have witnessed cops abusing their power a countless number of times, no matter how polite I am. You think I’m so stupid I don’t call em sir and sit like a submissive bitch while they yell at me? I do. It sucks.

I have great respect for their function in society, they face a lot of the worst people in society on a regular basis.

I am not one of those people and wish cops would show citizens (me) more respect before they start shouting and infringing on my rights (frequently). Especially kids.

I once saw a dude hitting a girl in his car in the face in front of my house. It was a crazy ass scene. I was in the street doing tricks and this guy whips around the corner in his explorer at like 60mph! Chirping the tires like crazy and honking the horn. Then he slams on his breaks and parks his car int eh middle of the road. he jumps out of his car shouts fuck really loud, punchs his hood and gets in his car. Then he turns and punches the woman in his passenger seat in the face. She starts to kick him to defend herself and he is just wailing on her.

I called 911 and they didn’t answer. No lie. I waited five more minutes and called again, and let it ring for a minute. That is why I have beef. How can they patrol SDSU and harass me, when that happened literally 2 blocks from campus, in their jurisdiction in front of my house? broad daylight? Where were they?

    and they give me shit?

I know they can’t be everywhere, but that pissed me off a lot too.

    it was horrible.

    ok, neg karma away.

I am not hating on all cops…I just think the ones who behave like that cop did are abusing their power, which to me is immoral. Its the same as Mozilo on the ethics scale. That’s it and nothing more. don’t extrapolate beyond that.

    Danny,

I was kinda worked up myself.

I agree: nothing makes us madder than watching a powertripper do his thing. But it seems to me that if you or I allow ourselves to wish him dead, that gives the same license to the dickhead who will actually follow through.

I agree, but remember thoughts are not actions and I think all kinds of things I would never really do.

    “actions speak louder than words”

It is an element of self-restraint some people unfortunately don’t have (the guy you describe). Those types should be removed from society, and frequently are, via jail, but only after a horrible crime. Thats the sad bullshit that comes with the territory of having a free society.

I feel some are missing the importance of the Buffett move today and why the markets subsequently rallied through most of the trading day and after a trading-program triggered late-day bear raid, rallied strongly into the close.

The revelation of this Buffett proposal is definitely a very bullish developement for the financial system specifically and the equity markets in general:

    _______________________

…….Whitney Tilson, a partner at investment management firm T2 Advisors who is short MBIA and Ambac (betting on their shares’ decline) believes Buffett is “playing to a larger audience.” He believes regulators are eager to prevent widespread downgrades of municipal bonds, which could saddle municipalities with higher interest costs and lead down the road to higher taxes.

He calls Buffett’s proposal “potentially great for the markets and the financial system,” because real risks and liabilities would be covered by Berkshire (BRKA, Fortune 500), whose triple-A credit rating – in contrast to Ambac and MBIA – is not under review. He adds, speaking of MBIA and Ambac, “This is just as obviously terrible for their shareholders.”

And of course, that’s the beauty of the deal – if it happens – for Buffett: Anything that’s bad for one set of shareholders is likely to be good for another. “You can bet that Warren can meet his return-on-equity target with this deal,” says David Merkel, chief economist and director of research at broker-dealer Finacorp Securities. Referring to Buffett’s refusal to pursue deals that might dent Berkshire’s profitability, Merkel added: “He never pays up.”

That COP INCIDENT was not a one off…get this…

I was recently given the same treatment with GUNS, handcuffed, kneeling on the ground execution style, back to the cops, at gunpoint by 4 cops for… get this… “stealing my own car”.

My car was ripped off. Recovered.
The local PD — CALLED ME to let me know they found it and where to pick it up. I go pick it up, fill out plenty of paperwork — cough up $600 to get it back. Nice — Ripped off TWICE.

    But that’s not the point…THEN…

a few weeks later, 3am, I’m driving home from a very late nite at work– a cops following me. I’m thinkin, “come pal just pull me over and lets get this over with”. He waits about 4 miles, odd, then suddenly he pulls me over, suddenly 3 other cops blast around him converge on me – boxing me in – nice move. I’m surrounded. Light blazing, yelling, guns. I’m like, OH, they think I stole the car. I roll down the window and I tell em “it’s my car, check the tags and my name is …, you’ll see, I sure this is a mistake”

ok granted, they gotta be defensive, I could be lying. But some common sense woulda told em — he probably ain’t a Khaki and polo wearing gansta crack dealer with a corporate ID cuz it’s the new BLING…we probably fucked up the records AGAIN. but no… they gotta flex it baby…

I’m holding my ID saying, ITS ME, MY CAR — response “SHUT UP”, HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE EM, HANDS UP, HANDS DOWN, OPEN THE DOOR SLOW, HANDS UP, OPEN THE DOOR, HANDS UP, STANDUP, MOVE LEFT, “GET ON THE GROUND”, LEFT HAND DOWN, HANDS UP, GET OUT YOUR WALLET, HANDS UP, KNEEL, CANT SEE YOUR HANDS,KNEEL, WALLET, GET DOWN, HANDS, and so on, 4 guys yelling different commands, FULLY conflicting commands while pointing guns at me. I’m thinkin, I’m gonna get shot cuz I can’t possibly do what ALL OF THE ASK AT ONCE.

I suddenly knew what it’s like to be a brother, pulled over, in the street with a bunch of cops bearing down on you. It’s bullshit.

They literally seemed to be purposely trying to get me to slip up so they could escalate.

I can see how this works. This cop was doing the same thing in a smaller way with this poor kid. It’s their game.

OK so back to me in the street… I’m in freakin Khakis and a polo shirt. Not exactly lookin like a gangsta who just boosted a car for a drug run or a joy ride. So I’m repeatedly saying to these cops, while kneeling handcuffed, middle of the road, guns focused on me – ITS MY CAR, JUST CHECK YOUR RECORDS, MY ID — they say— SHUT UP. ***YOU WANNA GET HIT?SHUT UP **** no shit. games.

this is not an isolated incident. This is the std M.O. of a lot, NOT ALL, cops it seems. At 3am, no one around, they know they can bend the rules and play their game of escalation.

finally they figured it out after 30 mins freezing in a short sleeves and handcuffs sitting on my bumper. “Sorry bout that”. bye.

    BUT THERE’S MORE…
When I picked it up the stolen car and got reemed for $600 by the towing company that hauled it all of 3 miles, it had a bomber handprint on the window where they pried it open. I tell the cops, they say we’ll send someone to print it. Took em 3 days to show up and they Fucked up the prints.

    GETS BETTER…
I just got a notice from the MVA that my car registration will not be renewed because it’s STILL reported stolen. SO THE COPS that tagged me didn’t even follow up and report it recovered.

this is bullshit. someones gonna get shot in this situation. All it woulda taken was me to be a little more mouthy and one of those guys to be twitchy or in a bad mood.

I’m sure this ain’t the first or last time this exact situations been repeated.

You fuckers shouldn’t pass judgement on cops until you’ve seen all the shit they have to go through everyday. Walk in their boots for a week and then tell me you could have never possibly done something like that cop did.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not excusing bad or abusive behavior.

Understand that cops have to deal with all kinds of bullshit, while trying to do their job, maintain the peace and feed a family. You also have incidents on a routine basis like having to deal with a wise-ass whigger punk skateboarder talking trash and disrespecting the law.

If you’ve ever seen a group of homeless people jump a cop, steal his service pistol and execute him in the middle of a downtown area, guess what?…you probably won’t trust homeless people….ever.

I’m telling you, after a short time on the job, you get very cynical. You see so much shit and degradation promulgated by the human race, that you start to doubt the goodness of people. First, everyone’s an asshole. Then, all non-cops are assholes. Then the cops that aren’t on your shift are assholes. Then, everybody but your partner is an asshole. It eventually gets to the point where even your partner is an asshole. Then you know it’s time to quit and find another job, like trading stocks.

As far as use of “excessive” force, if you’ve ever been shot at, stabbed, bit, kicked, spit on, or had to wrestle a gun away from some nigger crackhead, you might understand a little why these guys can get a little excited when some dubious shit goes down.

Granted, there are always the bad apples. But sometimes the seriousness of a situation warrants some pretty decisive and aggressive action, or so it would appear to the average bystander who has never been on patrol or walked a beat.

Bottom line, most every cop deserves our respect. They’re sincerely trying to do the best they can at a very difficult job. They are not perfect. Every now and then they will screw up, just like everybody else. The only difference is that when they screw up, it is headline news. How would you like them apples?

You are right and I’ve always thought that — but this experience openned my eyes to the other side – some cops use this escalation tactic, maybe as CYA technique if things get bad or mistakes are made. dunno but it’s there, it’s real and it’s dangerous if you don’t get it. Basically bow down and lick boot.

Cop’s jobs are insane. I don’t know how they don’t kill more people. Some situations just fire the primal fight instinct, no rational thought left, just swing, hit, shoot. I don’t know how they do it.

But my situation, I was stayin calm, I was trying to keep them calm, and THEY were goin for escalation. It was almost comic.

The escalation tactics I described are real, you can see em with the kid in the vid, I lived it. It’s bad on both sides.

Maybe the cops were just bored and needed some excitement. Many of these guys under 47 1/2 crave action.

You probably wouldn’t be surprised to find out that there are a lot of adrenaline junkies on the typical metro PD, especially rookies and those under 5 yrs of service.

Alpha, I couldn’t have said it any better. I think it is funny how people always talk shit on cops until they need them. I’ve never had a problem with cops because I respect them. They have to deal with other peoples problems on a daily basis. When you consider everyone has their own personal problems, and then you add all the dregs of society cops deal with, it’s no wonder some little wise ass punk set him off.

Danny, that is a pretty shitty story. The only thing I would suggest is that you just make things easy on yourself and say yes sir and no sir. If you speak like a douche bag to a cop, then they are going to immediately think you are a punk skater like all the other shit heads they deal with on a daily basis.

One of my ex employees, former Marine, had a similar situation happen in his neighborhood, around 3am. Apparently, some jerkoff was beating his girlfriend senseless in his car. Upon hearing her screaming, my buddy ran outside in his boxers, no shirt (like American History X, minus the nazi tats) and threatened that fucker with a frying pan.

Needless to say, he rescued her. She had no finger nails left, because she had been trying to claw her way out of the car.

Sometimes you cannot rely on police. You have to take matters in your own hands.

For instance, how can he say, “shut up?” freedom of speech, remember? I have had cops tell me to be quiet even though I haven’t raised my voice or moved or done anything suspicious. In fact, usually I am just trying to answer a question.
