It looks like the Fed is prepared to do some serious rate cutting.
In reality, everyone knows the Fed will cut rates. So, this is not breaking news. Nonetheless, I think people are content with hearing it come from the horses mouth, as opposed to just rumors.
Without a doubt, substantial rate cuts will help the economy, long term. However, short term, nothing changes.
I’m not buying the pop, nor am I shorting it.

I have problems shorting things that I don’t want to see die as well. I employed the sbux strategy today – when Helicpoter went on the cheerleading speech, I went sbux, an Ethipia Venti and a Tuna wrap. Buy sbux?? Nah, I missed the Schultz trade, although it was there. By the time I came back, the stockpushers ran out of product and the bounce was at 50, 5, 5. That made it easier to hold the fslr, bidu and crm short.

I am curious as to why you can say that cutting rates is good for the long term but not the short term …. I completely disagree.
Short term cutting the rates will get the US out of the recession. Cutting rates long term will just make any depression in the longer term more intense. My 2 cents worth …. which no doubt will cause mass flaming for me 🙂
