I hate to have done this but I bought NFLX this morning when it was down. Reason I hate it is because valuation is ridiculous. But then if I look at the space they’re breaking into, look at the market caps of CMCSA, FOXA, DIS etc.

slow getting out of the door today. i’m trying to build out a longer position in this so hoping that $103 or $105 or whatever price it is here is not going to matter much.
I think the wrong way to look at their business right now is looking at net profits which is what I had been doing. if you look at EBITDA, it shows them as being fairly inexpensive at about 11.9x TTM EBITDA. By comparison, AAPL was growing at similar rates in 2007 and they were trading at 25x.

Annoyed about missing SCMP. I had it at $17 but sold it for a small profit due to skittishness.
Jeff – I mentioned to you last week that I was trying to find the stocks like the CSCO / MSFT / YHOO / CMGI of 1998-1999 assuming your parallel was right. I think you’re comment about maybe AAPL, GOOGL, NFLX, AMZN being those stocks is spot on. Wish I thought about that sooner. I was thinking the stocks like SCMP AMAG etc would be the ones. Maybe they will be but seems to me that biotech will have a slower move up out of this phase. The 98/99 stocks absolutely rocketed out of the October 98 correction.
