In After Hours with Option Addict, our two earnings plays for this quarter were $CHGG and $IL. Through our earnings trades of the past, we have a pretty decent batting average, and usually manage to catch some of these silly moves where the market gets caught off guard and prices hit a “fast zone” based on the profile.
With $CHGG, this is not a bad spot to book a gain, but if it can hold north of $8.50, look for $9.50 next.
As for $IL, if it gaps north of $12.75, look for $17 over time.

this is strictly a roll the dice gamble. long SODA into earnings. maybe an ANGI like pop??
I always look for cheap premium and volume pockets, otherwise I get mixed results.
OA what is your favorite stock symbol that starts with an “A” ?
$AZZ.
Tell me you don’t giggle when you see that.
The owner of the 49ers have a sizable investment in CHGG and Jed York sits on the board – fyi.
Nibbled on some ONVO.
Jeff any idea on how far P could run from here?
Down to $14
so youre bearish?
No I bought some March calls.
haha nice
$GOGO getting perky
this market has all the making of an insane blow off top that could last longer than people expect. The bears had there chance and completely fumbled.
It’s funny because I was really bearish on china names a couple of months ago but now it looks like the next sector to move, I love KNDI JRJC WUBA BITA to name a few.
I’ve hated QIHU for at least a year but want to buy it now. Good ideas.
Did you pull the trigger?
Not yet
disregard females acquire currency.
Just bought some $SFM calls to play earnings tonight. Ridiculously cheap given its volume profile and $WFM’s move off of earnings. I might make it a straddle if it recovers by EOD.
“cheap” as in cheap options
sorry, earnings tomorrow night. still like the trade though
I think I will join you gasman. Good eye.
Curb-stomped out of $WYNN calls. Still holding $CZR which I got at a much better spot and it’s holding up much better. Rolled the scraps into next weeks $MBLY $36’s.
@Matt_Bear: I’ve had a bid in for a few days on more $BZH leaps, but the bid-ask is a mile and a half apart. Did you get any traction there?
if you use TOS, pull up the option chart. it’ll produce a purple line which is the theoretical price. I use that as a guide.
But that doesn’t tell the whole story. You need an implied to implied comparison.
i’m just trying to get a position filled, and it’s always been within 5 cents for me.
Yeah, I think I’m just holding a little too firm on my bid. I am trying to get picky on my entry points, as more often than not I get crushed when I chase an entry against my better judgement (see: $WYNN).
everyone has a different game plan. When dealing with Leaps, i try to do it in 2-3 purchases so i’m not razor sharp with the entry price. It’s basically a stock position with a bit of the leverage juice.
Jeff, you are looking for IL to beat .03 cent estimate, right?
I’m hoping the outcome is like $CHGG today.
Ripping VVUS into the close ahead of tonights report. I bought Mar 3 calls.
Jeff,
Thoughts on IBM here sitting below that huge pocket. Very cheap calls.
IBM has had some pretty strong trend days. Why not?
FSLR got mixed result and lower guidance. Looks like I need more patience to see FSLR leap.
Today was a good start
FSLR has been a great example of emotion getting in the way of a set-up. I took a major loss on the previous leap call position i had, oil was tanking, and yet FSLR bottomed out on a nice long term trendline that was NEVER breached. The mid/upper 30’s was a perfect technical buying opp and I passed out of fear.

Intralinks Enters into Strategic Technology and Go-To-Market Partnership with HP
added to VVUS position 2.57
bought 200 VVUS June 3’s @ .26
Anybody playing LNG?
It’s probably bored some folks to death, but our TXTR is finally getting lively. Not sure if I made a mistake by not selling this morning, though. My target was/is $29.75
Great move in that one UB! Congrats.
$AR running ahead of earnings. Feeling queasy about chasing it, as I didn’t get my shares yesterday when it was below $40, which is what I was seeking. Got caught staring at $WYNN melt down and missed the entry I was stalking.
WUBA looks close to breaking out of a flag btw. 30% float.
