I’m looking to build a watchlist in After Hours with Option Addict tonight. Thus far, our last collection of stocks were a fine assortment and I am already wanting a lineup of fresh longs to enter as I book gains from existing positions for Jan expiry.
Today, I have my eyes set on QIHU. I haven’t looked to far beyond that, other than the financials mentioned earlier ( MS, C ).
If you have any strong set-ups, please bring them to After Hours with Option Addict for group analysis.

how much of a role do volume pockets play in your set up?
Its one of few things I consider in taking a trade.
YGE on precipice of clearing overhead supply on volume profile. Volume pocket to about 6.70. They do play a role in appraising your target price.
Volume pocket to 7.60.
i’m pretty giddy about this one
MYL?
YY……boom!
amen to that…definitely helps for the day, also glad to see SFUN, WDAY turnaround for the day, nothing major, but it helps.
can’t make the live AHWOA, but in the recording might you address WUBA given today’s action?
in terms of a failed break like it looks it may be, do you then avoid it, or still ok to swing it given risk tolerance?
Are you Japanese ?
half Chinese, but I am a SuperMarioKart god when it comes SuperNintendo…unbeatable in battle mode, and kick you know what with Bowser in the races. Rainbow Cup, piece of cake!
as far as MarioKart is concerned, Super Nintendo is the only way to go.
Amen to that. subsequent rollouts weren’t near as good. I had the shortcuts down, and tricked a best lap on one of the Ghost Valleys down to about 1.93 seconds or something like that…where you had to go backwards across finish line and jump off the track, and let them pick you up and let you down across the finish line. Anyway, on the airline theme, I hope RJET can come back for a retest.
ha! ghost valley. i vaguely remember that “shortcut”. will have to fire up the old SNES one of these days.
im a PONG man myself
Not going to make the live session. Some setups are HEES, RGR, ASPS, SONC, LOPE, SLCA
All look ready to pop except SONC – looks like a short
btw… these are from a PPT screen I made. Stocks up over 20% last 6 months, between 5-10% off 52wk highs. I sort by ROE in an attempt to find quality. @matt_bear
i liked your 4th week expiry CLF calls. got in at $0.70
That link didn’t work. If interested you can find it under the name “Pullback after recent run” in the PPT
@lan – i got my ANGI order filled at $0.25
Nicely Played.
Congrats
I should thank you as well, lan–I got the same fill. .25 baby!
The Jan18 $15s? Was debating on a quick gamble here too.
Great job. I wavered a bunch on ANGI, but got in at .30.
Complete with a very tight stop. I already got burned by an Angie once. It ain’t happenin’ again!
Just added to ANGI for the second time, this one is gonna pay off big.
I forgot to add yesterday that at the close, i sold YGE Jan 5 calls for a 325% gain… not bad
Glad I dumped that POS ANGI fool me once shame on you Fool me twice…come on now stop fooling me…lol
Best trades working today are P, WDAY, and MS
Worst: BIDU, QIHU, SINA, CTRP, CLF
Blah are YOKU, DANG, FSLR
Jeff if you can remember for AH…
ZHNE and CLF…how to play these pullbacks
Thanks!
I like both of those set-ups a lot
SGMO, CLB, TWC and CNX
How about CYTR or KNDI? Both went up significantly with a volume they have never seen in their lifetime….
I just booked gains in KNDI. 100% in a stock trade.
f’in incredible
wow!
I can be a friend to you.
That comment made my day.
RKUS looks appetizing
ACHN and SID
My request for AH:
-How to determine an upside target for stocks that have broken the F out to new all time highs, like YY and how did you pick $60 for TWTR?
I probably won’t be there live tonight, I think my wife just went into labor! No joke.
Congrats Lou! But I wonder the same thing: developing exit strategies (eg targets).
+1, I know we need a plan with targets and this is a big one I need help on.
I think I finally broke the horrible habit of entering a trade w/o plan. And my upside target on YY was ATH’s because that’s all i had to go on, hence the question about upside targets when in ATH territory.
And, thanks aggiealum!
everybody’s having babies. matt_bear last week, managerlou right now.
my wife is due in March.
btw lou, you should probably stop posting on here, and go find your wife.
Haha, fortunately I am “working” from home today and she is here too. Sounds like contractions are just in the beginning stages. Due date was 12/31. Pretty exciting!…
Yeah, we can revisit this again.
CZR did all of his work in the first hour this morning, then cruised the rest of the day.
Kinda like me today, minus the work in the first hour.
CTRP a point off the lows…that is a victory for the day.
closed YY calls @ 3.85. 327%
Nicely played Matt – My order is in for 3.90. We shall see.
y’all scarin me, so I sold my Jan 50s for 7.7 97%
i see it just hit. nice.
lanforce
Is 3.90. Your original target.
3.78 was original target – I got out at 4.00
Are you using FIB exten to target a price.
3.80 here! Nicely done everyone.
Anyone looking at TXTR calls? Fly just picked some shares up.
on a side note, for 2014 on every friday afternoon i’m withdrawing 10% of all profit proceeds made during the week to set aside for my kid. First one of the year and it’s a good 4 figures after HCA and YY.
Out of YYY @ $4.00 (goal was 3.78).
A great trade guys. Can buy the dips next week for a repeat.
I still say this goes higher bro; never the less great play.
danny – totally agree – but for the work I’m doing on this “testimonial” thingy – I HAVE to follow my own trade plan (within reason).
I think it could be @61 or 62 this time next week.
YY yesterday in Feb 55 @3.50, out today @6.50. left a little on the table, but I need to book some sort of gains.
I want to preface this next post with first saying “I am not a conspiracy theorist”.
Okay; now come on! You can’t tell me some evil, sinastir shit wasn’t afoot on the way CTRP melted down today then all the sudden beast modes back up on 0 news. Some one wanted some cheap shares; WOW
comes back??? when did this happen? still down 8%
I was referring to when I bought it in the $46’s. Thought I was catching a bottom but never the less; it cut straight through my hand…lol
news was QUNR competing with CTRP, where CTRP has generally held the upper hand. that hurts.
almost a dbl on the MS YOLOs from yesterday
My first sale in 2014 – out with a 310.53% gain. THIS is what a call a nice start for the year.
Happy Friday All
how did you target the price.
You can use Options Profit Calculator for daily price/option targets. It’s close enough for government work.
Out of $YY at 4.01 – awesome trade gents!
spent most of the day down 2%, but now up 1%…closing out Friday strong…mostly due to YY which I’m now out of and XONE.
Sold out of YY Jan 55’s after it hit my target of 57 for a 300% gain! Thanks OA and all for your help in creating and sticking to a trading plan.
OA, how about DDS for AH
Since we’re posting gains, my YGE calls provided a 325%er … not bad
My YGE January’s are up 615%! Ridiculousness. Needless to say my AHWOA sub is already paid for many times over.
Im jealous, nice trade juice
a mere 615%?
pfff
I need to get learned up on options, I’ve been only messing with the boring equities. I watched Jeff’s 1st truing vid last night.
She says contractions are getting more intense! Heading to the doctor’s office/hospital in a few minutes…
OIBR certainly responded well after last nightt, i own a little from September been wondering if i should add
YY hit my target of $58. I decided to hold though, FYI. 30% short interest and no ceiling. At the very least, good target as of today!
I really debated whether to hold, and seems like the right call, but since part of my trading errors in 2013 were being to greedy and holding too long, decided to stick to the plan. Maybe reenter if it pulls back a little as lanforce mentions. Also sold $CSUN calls for 236% as it hit the 7 target.
sold YY jan 60c for +480%
$vrng ? thougts
anyone have a recommended brokerage to use for trading options only?
interactive brokers I’ve heard is low cost…I started opening account, but may have to start that process over as I didn’t get that done in the past few weeks.
IB looked to have the lowest cost by far which made me suspicious if it was a less worthy platform so was trying to get some thoughts from the group.
Thanks!
I use IB and thinkorswim.
Jeff- Could you elaborate on platform/commission considerations for options sometime during the webinar? Do you use IB and TOS for different types of trades or is it order execution vs. charting? What do you do about commission on the cheap YOLO trades (when the commission is much more than the premium)? Is that just part of the game? Thanks OA, new here and love the service.
Anytime, just remind me and we’ll go a lot more in depth on this topic.
bchu12, I just switched to IB. The platform is very no frills. Very basic studies. The only one I wanted was the volume profile which doesn’t appear to be an option. The website is no frills as well. For the style of trading jeff does, it seems adequate. I was using Think or Swim before, that platform is very busy. My TD account is defunded, but I still have login access for now, so I might use TOS for charting and IB for order entry. My commissions are MUCH lower. I have a low funded account, so I am much more willing to take smaller position sizes more frequently now, which is helping my sanity with trading OTM options risking the full premium. IB does charge for cancelled orders, so if you are fickle it will cost you a penny or two to modify or cancel a submitted order.
While I know E-Trade is considered a “premium” broker by today’s standards, to me it’s a price value thing. As a trader with pro-elite status (earned by either balance carried or trading volume or both), I have full access to a HUGE variety of research (some of which I excerpt in here from time to time), 24 x 7 LIVE broker coverage, 2 really good trade and management platforms (I can literally make changes to 10 live orders in under a minute – or submit a prepared order to go live in less than a second). And don’t discount live coverage – if you’ve ever lost internet on an expiration Friday as I have – you will learn to appreciate that seemingly small feature.
Additionally I have full service banking on my trading account including inter-bank transfers, checking account, debit and credit cards. And they have a mobile app which is top notch.
All for 6.99/trade and 0.75 per contract.
No, it’s not the absolute cheapest – but I find it very conducive to the style and type of trades we do in here (such as no cancellation fees – as many of you know, I sometimes take 10 orders to enter a trade, as many as 20 to exit – not sure that’s a good thing, but there ya go).
And for all the talk about trading fees – if you are trading in the OA style, the trading fees should be an insignificant part of each transaction.
Would I day or swing trade with E-Trade ? Absolutely not.
But then again, that’s not why I’m here.
Thanks very much for that Lan.
I’ve been trying to decide between IB and ToS and you’ve definitely put ETrade on my radar.
