Just took a position in TBT for a day/overnight trade with an assumption that we will get a late day reversal in TLT in anticipation of tomorrow’s job report .

I think its close to time to buy puts on the TBT. Weaker economy and Fed staying course means we should have a upside reversal on the TLT very soon.
I’m surprised with this type of logic .
There is no way for the FED to support a permanently new normal economy that will need years to reestablish sustained employment growth .

On the “margin”, the economy is getting better. If there is a 10% to 15% correction it should be bought. We got 6% into a correction, which is good for a trade, as OA aptly demonstrated.

Have you heard of mercury retrograde? I know some call it astrology bullshit. But I did a statistical study couple of years ago on the phenomenon and had published them here on ibankcoin as a guest blogger. Bottomline – it introduces lot more volatility and initially swings the markets violently to the downside. That retrograde period begins today. So that plus the uncertainty in tape is putting me in defensive position.

OA here is something else I am doing to play window dressing game. Wanted to know your thoughts. I bought $TQNT July calls because the stock was strong all quarter. Bought $BHP July puts because the stock was weak all quarter. And of course used charts to pick these two. Just a play for this week as it is quarter’s last week. Thoughts?
Not a bad idea…just make sure you keep risk in check. I’m always nervous chasing stock up/down based on performance.
