The volume bars on the side represent where transactions took place in the past. When there is a huge gap like this(lack of volume) prices can quickly jump to the last spot there was a “market” for the stock. Since there are virtually no sellers ahead, it doesn’t take many buyers for it to “pop” higher

OA – Are your weeklong timeframe options trades typically 1 month out and a couple points OTM? What % of a portfolio do you recommend risking per directional bet?

I have gotten really attached to weeklies…but I never buy options longer dated than front month.
I always encourage that type of behavior if you pick well and time best.

Missed your question about % portfolio…
The standard disclosure is 10% of portfolio for options, 1-2% per trade. This keeps you away from big drawdowns, shit losing streaks, etc.
Getting back to your question, I invest up to 50% of my personal cash account to trade options. 2-3% per trade. I adjust that lower when I am getting my ass kicked, and adjust up when I am on fire, like I am now.
