Former NAACP leader C.L. Bryant is accusing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton of “exploiting” the Trayvon Martin tragedy to “racially divide this country.”
“His family should be outraged at the fact that they’re using this child as the bait to inflame racial passions,” Rev. C.L. Bryant said in a Monday interview with The Daily Caller.
The conservative black pastor who was once the chapter president of the Garland, Texas NAACP called Jackson and Sharpton “race hustlers” and said they are “acting as though they are buzzards circling the carcass of this young boy.”
Jackson, for example, recently said Martin’s death shows how “blacks are under attack” and “targeting, arresting, convicting blacks and ultimately killing us is big business.”
George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, killed Martin, a 17-year-old black man who was unarmed at the time of his death, last month. Zimmerman has claimed to have shot Martin in self-defense and has not been charged with a crime.
But Bryant, who explores the topic of black-on-black crime in his new film “Runaway Slave,” said people like Jackson and Sharpton are being misleading to suggest there is an epidemic of “white men killing black young men.”
“The epidemic is truly black on black crime,” Bryant said. “The greatest danger to the lives of young black men are young black men.”

What I find amazing is that this kid is dead, and these here parts are up-in-arms about all the liberals and “race-baiters.” PULEEZE. Indeed, people are practically foaming at the mouth about the fact that his death is… GASP… news. I mean, why should the death of a 17 yo boy be news. It must be some conspiracy to disturb the peace of mind of people of a country that has put racial justice at the top of its agenda. I mean, seriously. Didn’t we elect Obama, that socialist-commie muslim-African? And yet here you are proclaiming loudly that people like Sharpton is being opportunistic.
Now, I think that he is perhaps a bit opportunistic, but I’d take 10 Al Sharpton’s over half a donald trump or rush limbaugh any day of the week. I’d even raise you a jesse jackson. The only way civil rights ever happened in this country was through the opportunities afforded by media attention. The truth is, in this here USA, no one ever a black man shit. Every scrap of life has been bitterly fought over tooth and nail. It’s not like all those KKK boys ever took off their hoods and said, “come, let me introduce you to my kids, boy!” (No hoodie!)
So I take my hoodie off to those who are making a stink, whether or not it’s justified. It’s good to keep the bigots on their toes. It is, we know, the American way now.
why cant we just be people? why spin either way? the facts in this case should of been released earlier. the media spun, the people spin, and we all lose.
Because to Al and Jesse this is nothing more than an opportunity for profit. Igniting and fomenting unrest is their business and race baiting is the “storefront” from which they operate. Follow the money grasshopper.

And for the record, I’m a white jew. And in my time, I’ve seen my fair share of discrimination. Interesting, though, that you’re using “us” here. And it’s interesting that what bugs you is that you think I’m trying to “cure” you. I have no such pretensions. But the bile and vituperation I read needs to be answered and challenged. I find it poisonous.
This kid is dead and you’re up in arms about the great black conspiracy. I hear not a single word of empathy or, even, the willingness to contemplate the possibility that, wow, hey, race could in fact have something to do with this? Why? Is it such a crazy prospect? Would it kill you to recognize the racial dynamics in this country? Would it make you any less of a man?
And as for lecturing, I’m not the one posting these links and these stories, am I. Frankly, I find that they’re inappropriate here. But hey, they drive traffic, don’t they?

This is a case of vigilante justice being crazy. Lack of good policing is the problem. Causing people to set up vigilante patrols which attract unqualified people who make mistakes. This mistake was fatal. Now the race baiters are having a field day with it. But I don’t think it’s about race so much as it is miscarried vigilante justice.

I agree with you in part. This is a miscarriage of vigilante justice and a policing problem. We can agree that Zimmerman has no business playing cop when he isn’t a cop. It’s hard enough on cops.
The part where I disagree with you about is that this isn’t about race. Whether or not Zimmerman was racist–and I actually don’t think he is on a personal level–his attitude towards a black kid with a hoodie was deeply fucked up and racist. If Martin was white, he’d be alive today because Zimmerman would NOT HAVE FOLLOWED HIM. End of story.
The kid is dead because he was black. That part seems pretty evident. That is what the uproar is about. That is why a couple of guys I play basketball with showed up last Friday morning, rightly so, wearing hoodies. That could have been them or anyone they knew. It’s not that they want to race-bait anyone. They are tired of the profiling, the assumptions, and the sheer stupid racism that they live with–right here in Manhattan.

How would you know? Were you there? Do you have the facts on the case? We’ll see when the investigation is done. But as far as I’m concerned, the minute he pursued the kid with a gun after the police dispatcher told him not to do so, Zimmerman owned this.
Zimmerman told police he got out of his SUV, but lost sight of Martin. As he walked back to his vehicle, he said Martin approached him from behind and asked him if he had a problem. Zimmerman said no and reached for his cell phone, the Sentinel reports.
Martin said something like “well you do now,” and punched him in the nose, Zimmerman told police. There has been no report of witnesses to that alleged initial blow.
As the older man fell to the ground, Martin jumped on him and started slamming his head into the sidewalk. In a 911 call from a neighbor, a man can be heard calling for help. Police say they believe it was Zimmerman’s voice, although Martin’s attorney insists it is the teen’s.
The Sentinel reports that one witness told police he was certain he saw Zimmerman on the ground with Martin on top, pounding him.

While vigilante justice may be mistake prone, it is much more efficient in its execution (no pun intended) and is generally carried out with great alacrity. This saves taxpayers millions of dollars per year much as 0bamavare will also by prematurely ending the lives of the infirm, aged, and terminally diseased or horrifically injured. Costs too much you know.
