it is a shame we cant’s just utilize our resources to the fullest…but i suspect we want to save the cache until the world runs dry.
Some watermelon types here in Virginia want to open up an offshore wind farm, yet they won’t allow drilling for oil. Any research on the amount of labor required to install and maintain an offshore windmill shows why this is absolutely insane.
The article omits a very important characteristic of the “proved reserves” that sit at the top of the pyramid: such reserves need to be economically viable for production under current conditions.
The pyramid graphic implies that we could be swimming in domestic oil if we wanted to be simply isn’t true unless you assume that nobody cares about the price of the oil.
Somehow, I cut a few characters out of that last bit. Should be:

I thought the article was going to be talking about how dismal our oil situation is…
