LOL, this is nothing new. And I don’t mean it was around for decades, I mean centuries.

America was founded by corporations starting with the original 13 colonies and their roots.

    Virgina founded by London Company
    South Carolina by Royal Charter
Delaware Founded by New Sweden Company (and Peter Minuit)

This was at a time when CORPORATIONS were a very new idea starting with the Dutch East India Company which also played a big role in the foundation of america.
So some countries were still founded by individuals or groups.
Massachusetts founded by Puritans (boston had major involvement with east india tea company as well)
    New Hampshire John Mason
    Maryland by Lord Baltimore
    Connecticut by Thomas Hooker
    Rhode Island by Roger Williams
North Carolina founded by Virginians (London Company)
New Jersey by Lord Berkeley and Sir George Carteret
New York by Duke of York
    Pennsylvania by William Penn
    Georgia by James Edward Oglethorpe
The revolutionary war was sort of a corporate take over or reverse merger. The country afterwards was an independent company with each corporate state independent from the British Crown.

It’s not just the corporations, it’s the lobbyists. And they are not all corporate. It’s politicians who will do anything for votes as they see their re-election as vital. It’s journalists who will print or say or repeat anything without applying intellectual acquity.

    example:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Sweden

The Swedes sought to expand their influence by creating an agricultural (tobacco) and fur-trading colony to bypass French and English merchants. The New Sweden Company was chartered and included Swedish, Dutch and German stockholders.

It was ALWAYS about resources. The “freedom” and “freedom from taxes” argument and ideology is only HOW you get soldiers to justify fighting. It is why the French and the Spanish got involved in the war. Land, resources, trading, people, and because they were in opposition to the British monopoly. Taxes were to be kept low for purposes of GROWTH, just like why the kindle is $200 even though it costs more than that to make.
