    It is true. It is legal for a member of congress to do insider trading, with a couple of exceptions.

    So how does a company pay off a politician ‘off the books’? In exchange for scratching the companies back the lobbyist gives the politician insider trading information.

    I hate to admit it, but issues like this are the centerpiece for OWS.

      bullshit. OWS doesnt have the intellect too even comprehend this story. OWS is protesting nothing. congress is the heart of the game. anyone with a brain knew this nonsense already. if its not about fucking raising taxes or the environment horseshit? the OWS drones dont have an opinion.

        The center piece of OWS has nothing to do with taxes. All they want is to reduce corporate influence on politics. Everything else is secondary.

        It even says as much on their official website here.

    #ows is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, … and aims to expose how the richest 1% of people are writing the rules of an unfair global economy that is foreclosing on our future.
