    I live in Ecuador and I can assure you that the US has totally neglected relations with South America and this is going to cost the US in the long run. Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru all now have left wing governments that are anti-US. Given the way we have treated them, it is difficult to blame them.

      South America generally follows the political trend of it’s big brother to the north, but perhaps the “follow” is delayed by a couple of years.

      We have banked left, so why shouldn’t they? They will get into economic trouble, as they always do when they go populist left, and they will come back again.

      If we don’t learn from our mistakes, why should we expect they would?
